The hotel is very ordinary and I must say that having booked it thinking it was a 5 star, it turned out to be a big let down. The hotel looks old, rooms are old-fashioned and feel a little dingy. There wasn't enough light in the rooms. The service was ok. The breakfast spread was lavish with a lot of variety. The hotel has an open bar and swimming pool looking out into the Nile. It was well decorated for the Christmas and New Year.

Overall, it wasn't value for the money we paid. The room quality could have been much better and brought down the overall experience.

I have stayed in this excellent hotel on many occasions,with my two Daughters.We are particularly impressed with the high standard of service,that we always receive.The hotel has many outstanding features,the food is always very good,with plenty of variety,the rooms are well furnished and maintained by house-keeping to a very acceptable standard.I really cannot fault the hotel in any way,because myself and the children have always been very happy there.We will be returning to the hotel in July 2012,for a 4 week stay,we are all looking forward to this very much.I can honestly recommend the hotel,you will not be disappointed.Kind regards Muhammad Abu-Bakr

I think it was a nice hotel once.. but for sure not 5 stars, more 2 then 5. It needs renovation, swimmingpool, rooms, very old fashioned

We stayed for 3 nights over New Year. We arrived on the overnight train from Cairo, and they let us have the room straight away. I think we could also have had breakfast that morning, since there are no checks at breakfast time - but we had a sleep instead. Rooms are large with big bathrooms, but several lights not working. If you want 5 star you need to pay more - but you can get good deals, and these are worth it. We thought we had just paid for 3 nights, but we had the New Year's Eve Gala dinner for free. I think the staff enjoyed it more than the guests, although some of the entertainment was worth watching - the rest was too loud!

The smaller heated pool was welcome at this time of year. The larger pool looked great, but was freezing! Pool snacks were OK. The Chinese and Italian were ok for a change, but don't get your hopes up too much!

Breakfast was a great spread, the pastries were particularly good.

For us it was a bit of luxury compared to the other hotels we were staying in. But I wouldn't want to spend more than £60 a night.
