I spent the last week of January 2012 at the Hilton in Luxor. All the reviews rating it five stars were clearly not wrong. The staff were exceptional and really did go out of their way to look at after you. While I was staying there, they had a problem with the phone system. One of their reception staff lent me their own mobile phone such that I could contact my local tour operator! As I said, nothing was too much.
I stayed in D wing room 16. Excellent room with a big balcony overlooking the Nile. The room was as expected in a five start hotel and I have stayed in 5 star hotels across the world. I went half board which meant that my meals were served buffet style in the Rosetta resturant. Every night there was a theme, ranging from oriental to western. I can't fault the food and choice.
The surroundings were immaculate as expected. Luxor was naturally quite due to teh elections, but what a perfect time to travel.
I must say hi to Khairy Zaky the duty manager. Excellent guy who understands the hospitality business. I agree with his philosphy of keep the staff happy and they keep the guests happy.
