“Acceptable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

We stayed one night here at the start of an Egypt tour with Explore. The previous night we were at the Grand Pyramids Hotel.
In short while this hotel was ok, the Grand Pyramids was better for around the same location and price. However if you, like us, are booked to stay here due to a tour and read some of the other reviews then don't panic, it is a reasonable place.
The hotel isn't that easy to find and while good for Giza, like all other hotels in Giza, not all that well placed for the rest of Cairo. It does have a pool but we never saw anyone in it, might not be allowed. The hotel looks tired and need of an overhaul, should it have one then it would be nicer but certainly more expensive so it is a trade off.

“Poor location - run down, not the most helpful staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

Stayed for three nights. Hotel is in an awful location. Neighborhood is extremely shabby, dirty and poor. There is absolutely NOTHING to do in the area. Smoke in the lobby makes it rather unpleasant to stay. Hotel taxi desk employees are disrespectful and rude to women passing by, harassing with unpleasant comments and looks. The hotel taxi charges 100 (yes one hundred) times more than an actual cost.
Feel free to walk out from the hotel (less than one minute ) to the busy street, to hail a taxi. As soon as you stop a taxi (use white with blue stripe-it is supposed to have a meter, but the taxi driver will tell you it is broken) a white dressed police man appears from nowhere to stand by you, taking the taxi's registration number down, you should feel safe.
Hotel staff is rather unpleasant and takes a bit of schmoozing to have them cooperate at their own- warped speed.
Bath tub is cracked, tile has mildew AC in hotel room not working properly.
To use internet hotel charges $6/half hour. Food served in the restaurant is fair but there is no place to go to eat, so you are stuck.
Hotel shops are a rip off.

“Nice Hotel - not the best location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

We stayed for three nights on a group tour. The Hotel was nice, rooms and public areas were very clean, the exterior of the buildings show some wear and tear, but not inside. The pool area was very clean and a nice place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Internet, whether WiFi or access to the business center PC's cost $30/day - ouch! My one word of caution would be that the immediate area around the hotel was not the best for tourists. If I went to Cairo again, I would definitely pay the extra money to stay in one of the American Hotels along the Nile.

try to look for somewhere else to enjoy ur stay.

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2010

We stay at Amarante 3 nights and found the hotel good.

The room is clean and up to the price while the breakfast buffet taisty and with a lot of choice. Also good the restaurant within the hotel (I couldn't remember the name, anyway not the Japanese one).

Very nice pool where to play with your children in a hot Egyptian day.

I didn't interact much with the staff so I couldn't say about that but they seemed at least polite and professional.

The only bad point was the wired internet connection, 6$ for half an hour, 12 for an hour and 30$ for 24 hrs., that's too much.

OVerall a good choice.
