“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed at the Conrad in October. It was part of a package travel deal so I did not pick it myself. However, it was pleasantly surprised. The staff was wonderful. There were a few morning that we had to get up before they started serving breakfast and they had a breakfast box waiting that we could take with us. That was so helpful.

The rooms were above average and the beds were comforatable. The bathroom had a great walk-in shower and a big tub. We had a view of the Nile but did not spend much time on the balcony because of all the smog.

“Good location overlooking Nile and within walking distance to shopping centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights while we were exploring Cairo. The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. Our deluxe room was clean and comfortable, with an opening balcony with Nile River views. We did a little exploring around the hotel and found a shopping centre about 300-400metres down the road if you come out of the hotel and turn right. It had shoes, handbags, clothes, electrical items, suitcases etc and a food mall. There were also ATMs there. We also caught a taxi into town one day - the taxi ride cost 10. The Conrad Hotel was in a good location. The restaurants at the hotel served very nice food and breakfast in the morning was also excellent. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: You must get a Nile River view room!

“Great experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I spent a few days at the Conrad in November.

It's relative location to the airport and tourist destinations was quite good.

My experience as a tourist in Cairo was adequate... I hesitate recommending travel for tourism to Cairo. It was not pedestrian friendly. A lot of the city's commercial features have not been rebuilt since the revolution in February 2011...

Specifically regarding Conrad Cairo:

The customer service and amenities provided at this hotel were outstanding.

I enjoyed meals at all of the hotels restaurants and found all of them outstanding.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable stay in a very busy, unfriendly city.

“Just as expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I have been staying at the Conrad in Cairo since 2006 and it's always equal, good quality service, rooms are spacious and well organized particularly for a business traveler, fresh mango juice (yes you absolutely have to have that when in cairo) is available both at the cafe below and at the executive lounge. As part of the Hilton chain receptionists immediately see your membership status and give you the perks... room on executive floor, access to the executive lounge and complimentary wifi. The pool is cool but quite busy, don't expect to be doing laps, but the gym is very well equipped. As in all hotels in Cairo, be prepared for a freezing Air Conditioning in all common areas so ladies keep a shawl handy. Breakfast at the executive lounge is acceptable, but if you're not having a breakfast meeting i'd recommend you take it in the breakfast area where it's much more diverse. An enjoyable stay and a bridge away from Zamalek, where hip and trendy pubs, restaurants and shopping areas are found.

Room Tip: There's no big difference between executive and regular rooms, all are high standard.

“Wonderful Nile View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Booked a room at the Conrad for 3 nights right after new years. We had stayed at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza for 2 night prior to a quick trip to Beirut and wanted to give the Conrad a try. Arrived after our flight from Beirut and we're escorted to the business lounge for check in. We had pre-purchased the room on the Hilton website and also had requested an upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite based on availability at check in. We received a confirmation stating the upgrade was completed prior to arrival. At check in we we asked for 1: another charge to the credit card even though we had already pre paid and 2: a copy of the confirmation that we had requested the upgrade. We stated we we're uncomfortable charging a second time as we had already paid. The receptionist asked if we had copy of the payment which seemed upsurd as we had made all arragnements thru the Hilton website. We ended up going to the computer in the buisness lounge and printing out a copy of our confirmation of the upgrade and that was sufficient. We we're also recharged the whole fee for the 3 nights a second time and are still attempting to sort this out with our credit card. Once the check in process was complted which took almost an hour we we're told the room would not be ready which was fine as we we're early. I asked to see the room to confirm it was what we expected and there was a crew of 3 staff trying to clean up what had obviously been a big messy party. The room smelled of cigarettes even though it was listed as a non smoking room. Overall the room is huge and worth the extra $65 upgrade fee. There is a bedroom, living room, small kitchen full bath and half bath and 2 balcony's.
The view over the Nile is wonderful. The staff sent flowers and a fruit plate to the room to smooth the arrival hassle. The staff at the hotel we're all very nice and the waiters in the buisness lounge we're great. The restaurant on the 2nd floor has an amazing breakfast buffet and great view of the Nile. All in all this is a great hotel if you want a good value and a Nile view. The location is further north then the Four Season's and you are forced to take cabs to get to all the sights. You can (with caution) get across the street and walk over the bridge to Zamalek which is an oasis of calm in the chaos of Cairo. There are some excellent restaurants, Abou El Sid and other's across the bridge. The Fairmont Hotel is further North and we actually intended to walk there to check it out but never had the energy. We did a day trip to Alexandria using Sylvia Tours and upon arrival back (after 13 hours) to the Conrad ordered room service and sat in our Suite overlooking the Nile and rechoiced in our amazing view.

Room Tip: If available spring for the 1 bedroom Suite. Worth the extra cost for the huge space, you'll fe...

Thank you for selecting the Conrad for your recent stay in Cairo, and for your time posting your comments on Tripadvisor.

We would like to assure you that nothing was charged to your credit card before your arrival, and the credit card was to guarantee your reservation only. All charges were established at the hotel only after your arrival.

As for the delay in check in process, this was due to the high suite occupancy over New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. You arrived early as mentioned, and it took us some time to prepare a non smoking suite for you, please accept our apologies for any delay.

We very much appreciate your positive feedback on our hotel, services and staff, and it makes our efforts so much worthwhile, knowing they are indeed appreciated. We will share your praise with our team.

We look forward to serving you again in the future, until then please accept our sincere regards.

Thank you
