“Great Location and Views”

I had 3 nights in the Marriott in Cairo last week - it is probably the 4th or 5th time that I have stayed there over the last 5 years. The hotel is showing its age a little in that the decor in the rooms is a little dated but it is well serviced and professional. The views of the Nile are great but equally the garden views rooms (which I have stayed in previously) are very relaxed and calm in the midst of the Cairo bustle. Some decent F&B outlets and plenty of room in the landscaped grounds to have some space to yourself.

Room Tip: If it is yiour first trip to Egypt (whether business or pleasure) ask for a Nile View room - the bal...

“A classic!”

I have stayed at the Cairo Marriott in the past but forgot to write feedback about it; the quality is always consistent; the hotel is Huge and I have stayed bot in the Zamalek and Gezira towers. this last time I had a room overlooking the NIle in the Zamalek tower and I ttally enjoyed the view, I could see all the way to tahrir square and about 5 kms of nile from my terrace. The room is a consistet standard Marrioot, confortable king bed. There are many restaurants and I really like the ones in the garden; especially during the evening when it is not too hot. The staff is nice and polite, you can feel that they are not very busy after the revolution; thera are definitely less tourists and it is a pity because Cairo is an extremely fashinating city. I would recommend caution anyway, Zamalek is safe but other areas could get sketchy very quickly.
I would definitely use it again when back in Cairo!

“Great hotel with bags of history.”

I was here on a business travel and stayed for about 11 nights. It truly is an oasis in hectic Caïro. Ideally situated in Zamalek along the Nile, the main palace and its promenade are just stunning. Great for coffee or an informal chat. Rooms are big and well isolated (from the traffic which is omnipresent in Caïro of course). The breakfast buffet is just mindblowing. Staff was very friendly. Maybe its five stars are fading a bit due to the dusts of time, but its history definitely adds some flavor!

+++ room service, breakfast, facilities, security, meeting rooms (wow!)
- - - wifi (too costly), bathroom (no seperate shower)

“Good hotel in a good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

My wife and I stayed here on our first trip to Cairo. This is a very big hotel that offers you everything you can think of. The service is good and our room was lovely. We had a room with a nice deep balcony looking over the Nile, a really lovely Cairo view.
The breakfasts were lovely, with good western and egyptian options and very friendly staff. The other food was not of a very high standard being rather expensive and not very good. Room service was standard, however the American style diner is to be avoided. We went there to avoid having to pay over $60 USD for a steak. At this diner however we had to send our steak back. We ordered it medium and when it arrived it was stilling mooing.... I have never been served a steak like this can I can only categorise as being raw...
Having said this, what can you expect, we should have known better than to eat at a US style diner in Cairo! The food was significantly better at breakfast time.
The hotel offers wireless at a price, however only in the hotel lobby. This seems to be consistent with other locations in this part of the world, however most places appear to offer wireless in communal areas for free, where as we had to pay $12 USD per hour at this hotel.
This hotel offers all the conveniences you could ask for with a very good gym and pool, bank, souvenir shops and top notch security. The rooms are clean and of a good quality and a good size. It is a business hotel, but for western travellers in Egypt, this can be a good thing... I would recommend this hotel to others with some hesitation over the food.

One thing I would recommend in Egypt is looking into Emeco travel as a tour company. They were absolutely fantastic and we had a wonderful tour guide named Abeer. A visit to Cairo and Egypt will be made so much better with Emeco!!!

Room Tip: Getting one over the Nile allows you to experience the wonders of Cairo - the traffic, the car horns...
