Novotel Hotel is in a perfect location in Cairo, the rooms are comfortable/stylish, and the staff is very friendly. For a 100 USD (tax included) your stay is a great deal. Cairo is a big and messy city, so location is key!
On the downside: food is terrible (we actually skipped the breakfast) and there is no alcohol served at the hotel (we found that extreme in a city with many bars and restaurants serving alcoholic drinks)
But all in all we will recommend Novotel to friends :)
Stayed 4 nights here between 18th and 22nd December. Got a good deal off the list price at the accor.com website. Room was clean and spacious, was given a high floor with a good view and the hotel has full facilities. A soak in the heated jacuzzi melted away all the travel weariness. A sanctuary.
Good security and located in a safe area. Double glazed windows kept out most of the noise. Pack your bags and do head for Egypt. It's a lot safer than you think. Just take the regular safety precautions. I recommend getting a guide if you do not speak the language.
I recently stayed at the Novotel El Borg for a 2 week business trip. I can compare this hotel to about 5 other business hotels on the Nile in Cairo and in my view it is the best value for money and very pleasant.
What I liked? 1. Superb roof terrace - best views in Cairo 2. Very friendly staff 3. Excellent room for a business trip - big sofa, best desk that opens to a T-shape with a wing 4. The gym - a treadmill with a topfloor view of the Nile - and you've finished your 25 minutes before you know it! 5. the free Apple corner in the lobby for a quick check on emails and 6. Excellent value for money if you book through the hotel's own website.
Things I liked less include: a) in-room internet cable is pricey at Euro 16 per day b) the downstairs restaurant has zero atmosphere - how about some nice lighting and some plants? - (though the food is fine) and c) the part of the building occupied by some offices is a bit messy - though it doesnt affect the hotel.
Would I go again? Defnitely.
It was a nice clean hotel, away from the business of downtown Cairo. Nice view of the Nile River.
If the wi-fi in the room is not chargeable, would definitely return to stay in this hotel again.
The pool is kinda small.
The reception staffs can be more friendlier .
