We stayed here 3 nights and I can't say enough good things about this place! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, great English, gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations, as well as sorting out a taxi to the airport and the use of a room after we had checked out so we could shower before our evening flight home. Centrally located in the Old Quarter, you can walk everywhere you need to go. Rooms are spacious and clean. We had asked for a room with a window, which are at the front of the hotel, overlooking Hang Be, which is a very busy road! Noisy until about 11pm and starting again at 5am, but we slept through it fine with earplugs (you might not if Hanoi is your first stop in Vietnam - you definitely adjust to the noise levels the longer you're there). You could request a room at the back of the hotel if you'd prefer peace to a window.
