This place wasn't so much the best because of it's own merits, but because it was the right place at the right time, and it had everything we needed for only a little more than it was worth.
I would probably not trust the ac in summer as when we turned it on it was actually hotter in our room than in the hall way (figure that one out?) and the windows for our room were riveted shut so it was difficult to get some fresh air in there.
It made it very refreshing to go out into the hall however after sitting in the room.
The hot water also didn't work, as for some reason as with many hotels in this country they were using those stupid little water heaters the size of a backpack which ALWAYS break or don't deliver enough hot water.
Why anyone would use those things in a city where solar hot water would work 365 days a year is still a mystery to me, so we went a day or two without hot showers (it was broken and then suddenly ok, then broken again).
There is a sign on the front door saying doubles available for 700 baht per night, but that is bullcrap, you ask about that and they say "oh they're on the front of the hotel, very noisy next to the highway" so you just get the room for 800 baht and accept it.
There are probably better and cheaper places but don't know for the location what could beat it for shopping and dining....
There is a new hostel which you can see from the window called lub'd, which has laughable rates, the price for a dorm shared bathroom is more than this place and this place has a fridge.
Sometimes these hostel places are seem to be trying way too much of their customers product if you know what I mean.
The wifi was free, if you have a laptop, however it was a poor connection and cut out more often than not.
