“Beautiful”

This place is absolutely stunning and we were given a very warm welcome. The staff were so friendly and polite, especially the lovely young lady who checked us in and the young waiter. The other waiter, whilst he wasn't rude, he didn't come across very well and I got the impression that we were bothering him. The restaurant was incredible and we ate there for three of our four nights stay. On our last night, the owner, Isabelle Aubry personally came to every table in the restaurant to say hello which was a lovely gesture. One of my only criticisms I have is that the wifi in the room was very hit or miss but having said that I understand the problems associated with incororating wifi into a building which such thick walls. Thank you for our stay Isabelle, you should be very proud of your amazing riad. I hope to stay again sometime.

“Good makes you forget the bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2012

Room, people, food, location made us forget first day cold water and lack of internet in the rooms. Great value for the money. Would be come back? Absolutely YES
No hotel without free, fast internet access in rooms deserves 5 stars...

“Close to perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2012

We spent 5 nights at Riad Monceau in mid April 2012 along with a couple of friends coming from London too. Our stay was booked on Expedia where this hotel had the best score of all Marrakech riads.

Riad Monceau is absolutely beautiful and ideally located just yards from the amazing Jemaa ElFna.

We got the friendliest welcome and service was truly excellent as was the atmosphere which was really nice. I think this is due to the extreme friendliness of all staff and also to the presence of the cosy restaurant that brings a very pleasant entertainment at night.

I noticed that some people had found that it brought noise but as far as we were concerned we just found it gave the place a fantastic atmosphere. I must say that over the last few years we had already stayed three times in other riads that were pleasant during the day but really depressing in the evening when staff had left and other guests were having dinner outside. Our only choice was then to have a night out too even though we were not in the mood for it…

So we found that the Monceau, with its charming intimate and romantic restaurant was the ideal compromise between the very small guest house quiet to the point of being boring, and bustling – but also impersonal - chain hotels.

Speaking of the restaurant we urge everyone to have dinner here at least once as it is in our opinion the best place to enjoy a fine Moroccan meal in all Marrakech.

Now in Paris for a while and then.. back to London.. and to work :(

Room Tip: Each room having its own charm and ambience I'd recommend to have a look at their website

“Nice but not great, real noise issues in ground floor rooms.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2012

It's really well located just 100m straight shot from the main sq. The staff were fairly friendly and the rooms were ok. We had a dimmer switch that couldn't turn the main light fully off meaning we had a night light in the room. The shower was a hand held stand in the bath job which wasn't great. There were real noise issues in the ground floor rooms as well but that may be the case in all Riads.

The food was fairly good although the one evening meal we gad did have a heavy reliance on sugar - to be fair Morrocco seems to love sugar in everything.

Lots of little annoyances: They twice put opened boxes of Pringles crisps in our mini bar, we got one bottle of water in the room and that was it for the rest of the stay and we ran out if loo paper every day.

It was okay and if you can't get anything in the top 50, go for it. I wouldnt go back but I can't say it was bad either.

“close to the heart of marrakesh”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2012

You probably cant get closer to the centre of the city in such style. The staff were all very pleasent and really helped to make our trip. The main suite has the most beautiful bathroom I have ever stayed in, huge bath with all the trimmings, robes, soft towels, candles and rose petals. The quality of this room is rather out of synch with the rest of the hotel, but if you want to have a fantastic room to explore the city centre from, then it does not get much better. For all its talk about food I have to say that I was dissapointed. I am not really sure why Marrakesh concentrates on food so much as never found a great meal all week.
