The actual riad was lovely and the bedrooms beautiful but the location of the riad was the main issue. It is a maze in all of the medina but this was especially tucked away in a back street and almost impossible to find! We asked the lady owner how to get to the main square and she gave us a map (free from the tourist board but charged us a £1 for it) and she just drew an arrow to the main square, there were no instructions on how to work the maze (all this in our pigeon French so wise if you don't know French to at least learn some directions in French!). They just didn't seem very helpful at all.
Getting back to the riad was even worse, the local taxi drivers don't even know where it is...the first taxi driver was very helpful and kept asking locals and eventually got as close as he could to it but the second taxi driver didn't have a clue and in the end we just got dropped off in one area and got completely lost. A lot of the other riads have signs on the wall for directions but not for this one...in the end we met a very nice local who took us after calling the owners and speaking to them. You can get the local teenage boys to take you but it will cost you!
Also the owners do not live on site and they leave early evening so if you want anything after they have gone you have to call them and hope that they will answer.
There are better places to stay...we started off the holiday at the Riad Ghallia which is owned by a Frenchman and it was equally as beautiful and the staff are really helpful and they hand out detailed, hand drawn maps to help you get to and from the Riad...I would recommend Riad Ghallia over this riad anyday and price is about the same.
