The Medina is not for the faint hearted & fragile sorts should stay away . But This is a hidden gem in the non-touristy bit of the Medina & it has two advantages : Firstly
, it allows you to investigate a neighbourhood you would never otherwise see and feel like a proper traveller as opposed to a corporate tourist and secondly it happens to be very close to a gate giving on to the new city : An easy walk to the center ( shops, cafes etc ) .
The Ryad itself really is a gem. The door opens onto the most lovely lush garden with sounds of water and birds . The rooms are luxurious and beautifully kept. There are books everywhere and because the evenings were a bit chilly we had dinner ( exquisitely prepared by Fahtima an experienced and imaginative young chef) in front of an open fire. The french couple who own this ryad are delightfull & will take everycare to make sure your stay is the best ever with detailed written instructions for finding your way down to 'La Place " . That on its own is worth the trip! For reasons as yet unexplained we were upgraded to the honeymoon room :Highly recommended.
