“A truly Moroccan experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

On first impressions the Riad is a jewel in a desert. It is a beautifully decorated place with heavy islamic influence on its architecture, flooring and wall design. A must see. The rooms complement the busy design of the common areas and are beautiful and cosy. Hot water and a/c was well functioning 24/7. The rooms and bathrooms were clean.

We required access for a wheelchair user. The room was comfortably spacious but the bathroom not fully accessible. There is no lift in the riad however we were accommodated wonderfully by having breakfast and dinner in the central yard of the home on the ground floor. For those who have access to the roof they could enjoy a beautiful view of the whole medina and more.

The food was genuine Moroccan cuisine. It was very good and freshly cooked. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were given a very good service, we couldn't have asked for anything better!

I would highly recommend this place for travelers seeking a tranquil Riad within the old medina, yet still very central to all amneties. the Bab is just a stone throw away making it easy to find entry and exit into the Riad.

“Great little Riad”

Great little riad. Right close to the Medina. Saleem the man who helped us was wonderful. The courtyard type thing in the middle was nice and there was an amazing view from the roof. Our room had a/c which worked very well.

“Family home /bed & breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

A beautiful old tradional family home. Excellent place to stay with children and for couples. There are a lot of stairs though, right up to the roof top. Very friendly staff, wifi downstairs in the enclosed courtyard, where breakfast is served as well as meals you can order. We went for a short walk to a local chicken place recommended by the owner. He showed us the way! This is also where the market is at night and all the locals shop. We had dinner there on both nights, very cheap and excellent Moroccan food.
The rooms were decorated with mosaic tiles, walls and staircase alike and many windows opening unto the courtyard. We had a room for sitting and 2 beds were made up for sleeping. Stairs inside the room take you up to the double bedroom area.
The only downside is the airconditioner. It blew out air, but not cold enough. It stayed quite hot during the night, resulting in having to open the windows to the courtyard. We were there in the hottest time of the year, so in the cooler months there shouldn't be any problem. The owner organised a guide to take us one day into the medina and to places of interests. Also helped organise our 2 day tour to the Shara desert and Atlas Mountains.

“a lovely and relaxing place to stay!”

Multiple kudos to the staff and owners. Located at the edge of the medina, the Riad Khouloud is clean, lovely, secure, and more. Welcoming staff speak several languages, and are gracious, polite, and always helpful. (Whatever the owners are paying Saleem, give him a raise. This young man is sooo helpful and nice, always at your service ) On the way to Fes from Tangier, my friends and I were very lucky to be in a train car with a Moroccan man who recommended this place to us, gave us its business card, and even called to help book our suite! The food was a bit pricey, but we got big portions; and it was all delicious. Overall, I very highly recommend this as a place to stay while in Fes.
