“Incredible, Epic, will be staying again!”

Incredible experience! While on a day trip we decided to stop for the night since it was late. We were totally unprepared, but they had everything we needed, robes in the closet, shampoo, soap, lotion, hair dryer, etc.. AND it was late at night! What a lovely gem! Clean rooms, gracious host/hostess and an AMAZING, although non-traditional, breakfast that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you lingering to try to eat just one more bite... one more taste...! DEFINITELY would stay there again!

“Thoroughly Delighted with this Spontaneous Discovery!”

My sister and I were so pleased with this B&B! Bill, Lynn and Daniel are perfectly suited to B&B hosting. Our spontaneous decision to stay overnight on a "mini road trip" was greeted with Lynn's very gracious welcome to our late arrival...and a pleasant little chat over a pot of tea and cookies. We were grateful for the robes supplied in the room, having come unprepared.
We had a comfortable night's sleep in the artfully decorated "Fern Room" (no private bath...but no other guests that night, so the hall bath was great).
We were pleasantly taken aback when course after unusual course arrived for "breakfast". It was Epic! Tip: Bring your camera to breakfast! You can get "traditional" breakfast anywhere. I guarantee...you won't ever have a breakfast like this anywhere else. Legendary is a good word. The portions were generous (to say the least). Loved, loved, loved the tastes and the presentation! Chef Daniel was a superb flavor-blender. It was so incredible, that the images and taste treats literally still linger. And, while not usually a history buff, I enjoyed the historical chat with Bill. It enhanced our stroll through downtown Arcola for sure! Lynne is an incredible artist, so be sure to have someone show you which art is hers throughout the home. We were lucky enough that Bill did give us that mini-tour as we were leaving. We were also lucky enough to have an angel biscuit left over and tucked down as part of a later snack. (I must learn how to make that "biscuit"!!!!). All in all...I can heartily recommend this B&B based on our experience, and hope that I will be able to experience it again on a future trip!

“Disappointing experience.”

Was really excited about this B&B from the website pictures and descriptions. We stayed at the Diamond House property in the Diamond Room. Unfortunately, our experience is not what we expected. The service was very gracious, but the B&B space was not what we have experienced with past B&B's. Decorations looked like they were thrown together and intermixed with what looked like children/grandchildren’s school art/work. The Diamond Room was off the kitchen, so all could be heard as preparations were made in the evenings and mornings for breakfast (including the TV). Not to mention, the living space of the B&B owners was shared w/ the guest space, which made us feel like we were staying in someone's private residence. And, finally, while the food was good, it was not breakfast. Most of the entrees were vegetables.

“Fabulous experience and a pleasure to your palette.”

This was a first time visit for myself and 9 sisters. We had a wonderful time enjoying the B&B. The hosts were most accommodating. The brunch was extraordinary. Enjoyed learning about the edible flowers and plants served with the meal, and the food prepared by the Chef was fantastic and different. Loved it all! We enjoyed visiting the Amish stores around the area and other shopping available in Arcola. Also, had dinner with an Amish family. This was such a unique experience, and I look forward to returning.

“Love this B&B!!”

I had such a wonderful experience at the Arcola Flower Patch Bed & Breakfast this past weekend. This was my third visit over the past three years and each stay is better than the last. Not sure where to start…Bill and Lynn Harshbarger are the perfect hosts. I was greeted with bright smiles and shown to one of the charming bedrooms – the Garden room is my favorite with the Maple room as a close second. It’s so peaceful at night; I always get the best sleep.

Upon my arrival, they always offer me hot or iced tea which was most refreshing after the long trip. I love admiring all of Lynn’s family fine china displayed in the dining room – she sells gorgeous china in her gift shop too. Oh, and I almost forgot about the garden…so beautiful and tranquil. Make sure you sit in the gazebo which overlooks the garden.

Besides the exploring the cute town of Arcola and visiting the Amish country, the favorite part of my visit is Chef Dan’s infamous 7-course breakfast!! Bill & Lynn’s son is this fabulous cook that makes the best and most unique breakfast…you won’t walk away hungry, believe me. How does pecan praline French toast with Dutch sausage sound? And Tammy’s homemade muffins and Lynn’s angel biscuits…yum! As part of the 7-courses Dan presents non-traditional breakfast dishes as well, but delicious non-the-less. Midwest Cabbage and his “secret” Brussels sprouts recipe are two of Dan’s favorites – I begged for the recipes. I don’t think I have eaten so much scrumptious food in one sitting before...well worth the money.

Such a relaxing experience overall, I can’t wait to go back!!
