“Green Pool!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We stayed here while our 8 year old son was at football camp at UGA. We needed something affordable because this was not a planned vacation. We just wanted to be close by since this was his first time away from home. I took my daughter and a friend and we were going to have girls week hanging out by the pool and doing some shopping in the downtown Athens area. Well, much to our disappointment, the pool was GREEN the entire week! The location of the hotel is great, but NOT within safe walking distance to any of the downtown area. It is a quick 2 minute drive, but through several scary residential areas. If we go back to Athens, we will spend more money and stay somewhere nicer.

“Avoid this place.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

Definitely skip this place. Bed lights didn't work when we checked in and had to crawl around to find out it was unplugged. Later found out probably why. The plug in the sink area didn't work. Someone probably used this plug for hair dryer or curling iron. No hot water in the sink. Sheets wouldn't stay on the bed because of poor quality probably. This is a definite cesspool.

“This Hotel Should not hold a Days Inn Franchise-”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2009

This is undoubtedly one of the worst hotels stays I have ever experienced, and thought it would meet certain standards since it was a Days Inn. Starting from the unprofessional front desk personal - they looked more like they should be tending the family farm then greeting guests at a hotel. The wallpaper on the walls was peeling everywhere and by the second day, fell off the wall halfway down the wall and revealed thick black mold that we had been breathing. The upholstered chairs had stains on the seats. The bedspreads and blankets had cigarette burns (we were in a non-smoking room) The room smelled musty and smoky - I went through a whole bottle of Fabreeze and Lysol trying to fix the problem. It was during cold weather and to add insult to injury, there was no hot water - my husband and I had to take luke-warm showers, which ended on cold in 30 degree weather outside!! They moved our room and it was not much better - our keys did not work properly and my husband had to change out the key card 5 times in two days and when he complained, the front desk attendant said - "don't get so upset -things happen"
If it had not been a holiday and there were rooms available anywhere else close that we could have gone, we would have been out of there! Not a bit of compensation was made. This place does not deserve to be in business under a Days Inn sign.
WARNING - STAY AWAY!!!!!

“Very good budget hotel -- extremely friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2009

This is a very good & cheap hotel. The room was very nice, the breakfast surprisingly good, and the exceptionally friendly staff went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one.

“Perfect Budget Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2009

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Days Inn in October 2009 for a cheap weekend trip to Athens. We were cautious about booking this room because of other reviews we read. However, as I had stayed at other Days Inns we went for it to save some cash.
This room was absolutely fine. Clean, usual motel style and size. If you are looking for a cheap place to sleep in after a few beers then this is perfect.

It isn't luxury but for the money and location it's great. A taxi to the Terrapin Brewery (definitely worth a visit) was $10 each way and you can walk to downtown restuarants and bars in 5-10 mins.
I would definitely stay here again if looking to save some money.
Staff were ok, breakfast was good.
