We were passing through Athens on our way south, came across this hotel here and decided to book it for the price & because it took in our dog for a reasonable fee. It's an older motel with flowery bedspreads and 'popcorn' ceilings but the room was clean and comfortable. Call me strange but the sheets were clean and smelled mildly of bleach, which made me feel that they make an effort at cleanliness. The bathroom was similarly spotless. While the furniture is on the old-fashioned side, a large flat-screen tv was installed on the wall - nice touch.

The front desk was manned by a young man that was friendly and chatty, giving us info on where to eat and places in the area to check out. The motel isn't in the heart of downtown Athens but about half a mile away, a distance we covered easily on foot despite a drizzly evening (we wanted to stretch our legs after a long drive). The area felt safe and was well lit. This hotel is a good deal.

I have stayed at hundreds of different hotels with my job, but this Best Western in Athens is such a change from most all of the other hotels I normally frequent. The employees that man the front office are exceptional, knowledgeable and always go out of their way to help. The rooms are really well kept and very clean....even large flat screen TV. This place has the best free WIFI that I have used anywhere, even at my house. It is easy and extremely fast....When my job takes me to Athens I always know to call ahead for my room at the Best Western.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times over the years. Usually its for a spoil me day off in one of the whirlpool tub rooms. This is a very safe establishment and I have never felt unsafe or unwelcome. The staff is excellent especially Carla. I had to fly out of state on anemergency. I was in need of a room in athens for the shuttle to pick me up for atlanta airport at 3 a.m., and it was bulldog season with a home game that weekend. I couldn't find anyplace in town that was reasonably priced or available for the little 10 hours or less I would be there. I had talked to Carla told her my circumstances and low and behold by the grace of god she worked wonders and found me a quality room within my budget and I was able to make my shuttle and made my flight. I will always recomend this place to all my out of town friends and family. Its clean, safe, people pleasant, and very reasonable in price and to patrons needs. The hotel met my expectations for this price range. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly. The continental breakfast was decent (waffles, cereal, pastries, bagels, etc), although mostly carbs with very little fruit, yogurt, or any other options. The pool was nothing special, but was nice to cool off in the middle of July. My only complaint is the management seems to have no desire to keep recurring customers. Before I left, I knew I was going to be back in Athens in a month for another trip and asked her if she would give me a similar deal to the one I had during the current stay (booked through Priceline) and she simply said "no" and left it at that. Needless to say, I stayed where I could get the best deal the following trip.
