“Very clean, helpful friendly staff, 24 hours hot water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

This hotel is not the cheapest in town, but it's really clean. Single 375 Lem, 2 Pers/400 Lem. with private bath/ceiling fan. The staff is very helpful, friendly. There is a huge flatscreen in the lobby, if you want to watch TV at night. Free coffee in the morning. I liked to stay in that hotel, because rooms are spacious and well furnished.
Two negative things to mention: First the traffic starts early and if not the traffic, other guest will probably wake you up. But that's the case everywhere in the city. Second the bathroom is practically part of the room, which seems to be standard in Central America. No windows, no exhaust-fan. Well, it's not so nice to have the humidy in your room, but the ceiling is high in this colonial style building.

“Authentic and pleasant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

Located fairly close to main square with old churches, shopping, and plenty of restaurants. Very safe inside. Not very quiet but acceptable considering it is downtown. Beautiful old architecture and lovely atriums. Day staff pleasant, night staff a little edgy. Well worth the money and the experience. Have been there twice and will go back. For an upgrade, go to Hotel MacArthur a few blocks away, closer to center.

“Good place to stay a night in Tegucigalpa”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2009

The hotel is well located near downtown within walking distance of the city center although finding a nice place to eat around it is difficult. The room was clean so it's a good place to stay if you're passing by the city. It has the basics to spend a night but nothing fancy.

“For a hostel, pretty decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2009

The Boston Hotel, although clearly misnamed as it's a hostel, was a good, realiable, and safe place to stay in a recent trip to Honduras. Rooms are cheap - about $12 US per day. They have singles as well as doubles, and some rooms are huge and have additional twin size beds (perfect for a large family).

The rooms are primarily divided by location, and all rooms have interior access. The "street side" rooms are remarkably loud. Although they contain a real door to the bathroom, tend to be much larger, and have a mini-balcony, there is no way I could recommend these rooms to anyone who wants to sleep at night.

Overall, the hotel is loud, because of the concrete design, outdoor open-air access, and the consistent echo. If somebody down the hall from your room sneezes or coughs, you will hear it, and it may even wake you because it sounds so loud. If you are an average/light sleeper, you won't sleep past 6am when the hotel staff begins their day.

Cleanliness, safety, cost, and location to eateries are the best reason to stay here. The staff keeps this hotel very clean, and changes your sheets/towels each day. The fact that the door to the hotel remains locked is a great safety mechanism considering the fact that it's Honduras. Each room locks with a key, and you leave the key at the desk when you leave. You are a 5 minute walk to 10+ fast food restaurants and other places for food. There are shops all around the hotel, including a pharmacy and a barber shop.

The staff speaks no English, but this was not a problem. They have a coffee pot ready by 6am for guests to enjoy, but there are no other sources of food/beverage here (besides a mini-fridge with bottled soft-drinks).

The showers contained hot water, although it varied from barely a trickle, to more of a shower. Everything in the bathroom was clean. Be sure to bring all your own toiletries, and the only towels available are two bath towels (no hand towels, wash rags, etc).

The rooms are simple. A bed, a shower, toilet, sink. Very simple. No television and no temperature control (other than some windows which you can close, and some which you cannot - which explains some of the noise).

Overall, if you are expecting to stay at a cheap hostel, this is a good place. If you think you are staying at a hotel, think again. Would I stay here again? Maybe. I would probably look for something more quiet, though.
