We arrived on Norwegian Cruise Line into the port of Roatan, not wanting to pay the way overpriced excursions on the ship, we did our usual 'get off and see what we can find'. We negotiated with a couple of tours (15 of us) and Pirates Of The Caribbean just seemed the best option and were willing to do absolutely anything we wanted.

We had our own tour guide - well 2 of them as we had 2 buses who took us on a scenic drive to the zip line. On arrival we were all so overwhelmed by the monkeys - 3 of them were there when we visited and they were AMAZING, it has always been a dream to interact with monkeys the way we were able to. They seemed to be clean and sooo friendly, playing with our hats and glasses and climbing up our arms for cuddles and photos....incredible experience that we just weren't expecting. While all the 'monkey business' was going on the staff were getting us prepared for our zip lining adventure, we each had to sign a waiver and put on our helmets and harness (you could wear anything for this - the harness was reasonably comfortable - recommend trainers though I wore flip flops which were easily attached to harness if wanted).
We then got back onto our buses for a very short trip to the top of the zip line. As I mentioned we were a large group, it was my intention to wait towards the end so I could watch everybody else go first, I'm not a huge daredevil but certainly not one to get nervous either, it was fun watching everyone's experience on their first run. The guides were great, reassuring us our safety - this is a DOUBLE line so you are attached to 2 (very safe) and even when the particularly nervous asked them to check their harness AGAIN they had no problem in doing it just for their assurance.
I took my mum with me who is not one to do ANYTHING like this, she now says it was an incredible exhilarating experience and would love to do it again - though if you could see the look on her face on the first run it was hilarious.

Unfortunately I can't remember how many we did, but you go from one zip line to the next over jungle canopy's and fields - we did at least 8 I think but could be more. Staff at each 'stop point' were so friendly and fun.

After the zip line and more fun with the monkeys we got back on our bus and headed to a private beach - WOW it was beautiful!!! Water was crystal clear and so calm, there were kayaks and water floats, the bar was VERY reasonable with DELICIOUS cocktails (try the coconut one), none of us wanted to leave, the music was great, the sun was shining, the water was warm and the drinks were flowing.

I would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone, it was PERFECT in every way.

our personal guide Juan Carolos Rodriguez was very attentive. we posed a particular challenge because it was raining the day we visited from our ship but he made the day wonderful and one place we went was to zip line at the Pirates of Caribbean. It's very different - the ride up to the starting point was quite hairy - muddy, road is full of holes and in a big 4 wheel drive vehicle - thought we'd get whiplash but we made it! The zip line is a little pirmitive but felt secure enough as there were 2 cables to zip on rather than only one. We not only zip lined, we also walked plank bridges (a bit of a challenge on slipperty boards) and a monkey bridge and then more zip lining. It was fun - came back with lots of insect bites so wear some insect repellent. Not sure how much it would have helped in the rain for us. The first guide had a hammer to secure nails before we got to the next platform....not sure if I'd recomment this...it was ok. There are other places to zip line in Roatan also. They also have a couple of monkeys leashed - not exactly what we wanted. But one of them climbed on me after I was done ziplining and wrapped it's 'hand' around my finger and it's tail around my neck. He was cute. Sorry they were captive. The restrooms were clean! One plus.

Look out for those crazy monkeys! Had a great time canopying at this place, the staff is a lot of fun and they are super strict about safety!

We were in Roatan for the day as a stop on our Carnival Cruise. We took an island tour with a local company. Our driver recommended this place and said it was the best zip lining on the island. There were four of us, ages 35-68. The staff was very professional and knowledgeable. We were impressed with how safe it was. Had we known that, we would have allowed our 8 year old to do it, (he really wanted to but we weren't sure about it before we did it). Our two guides were great! We did the Extreme Zip Line, which was a total of 8 zip lines. The scenery was just beautiful!! It was a great experience!! You should definitely try it if you are visiting Roatan!!
