“Friendly and helpful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2010

Gary met us at the ferry terminal with a warm welcome and drove us to the Glengary B&B. The bedrooms were comfortable and there was also a guest lounge. Glenys served a substantial continental breakfast which included her homemade muesli, jams, and prepared pears and tamarillos. While we were off on a four day tramp on the Queen Charlotte Track, Glenys kindly followed up with the rental car company in Wellington about my missing sunglasses and had a message forwarded to let me know that she would have them for our stay afterwards. She also arranged for the shuttle to take us to the Picton airport. The B&B is close to the downtown area and an easy walk to restaurants. Very friendly hosts.

“Very friendly and comfortable B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

We booked Glengary for the two nights at start and end of our walk on the Queen Charlotte Track. We drove in, left our bags and then returned our hire car as we were off to the North Island afterwards. It is not far to walk down to the town or the QC track water taxis, a bit farther to the ferry terminals. We were able to leave the luggage we didn't need whilst we walked.
Glenys and Gary were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The room was good, we had one with a nice view over the harbour. As others have said, there is an upstairs lounge with cookies, tea and coffee and sauvignon blanc plus a tv if you want it (not one in the room, which didn't worry us). Plenty of books to read and possibly exchange. Excellent breakfasts with fruit, cereals, bread/toast etc - more than enough for us.
As an example of their helpfulness, I came back from the QC track boat to do some washing, took it all down to the laundrette and found that there were no soap machines - you could buy soap from the "office" but that was closed, despite signs saying it was open, and remained closed. I was taking it all back when I met Glenys, who offered to drive me back, found some soap and then brought me back to the laundrette. We left on the afternoon ferry to Wellington, and she brought our luggage down to the ferry terminal and met us there (we had wandered round the town for an hour or two)

Picton is a lovely small town in a beautiful area - we would happily go back - and would stay again at Glengary

“Nice little B&B close to everything - great hosts”

We (a family of 4 from CA) stayed here for a night when returning from Marlborough Sounds. Gary and Gleniss were very warm, knowledgeable, and generous -- prepared a great continental breakfast. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, enjoyed a nice bottle of wine and snacks in the upstairs lounge. Easy walk to down and the Marina. We ate at Seabreeze for lunch, nice little place, good food. Gary is head of the B&B owners association and they are native NZlanders with lots of good advice. We wished we'd have stayed there on the front vs. tail end of the trip. Picton is delightful. We don't usually go for B&B's, but this was a nice break from hotels & self-catering houses.

“Ideal b&b”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2009

A recommendation from a friend. Very central Picton, just a very short walk from everything that the town has to offer (which if you include boats to the start of the Queen Charlotte Sound walk, wine trips etc is quite a lot). Glengary is a modern large spotlessly clean private house. We had a huge bedroom with ensuite. There is a very pleasant comon room for guests with tv, fridge with complimentary sauvignon blanc, tea & coffee etc. Glennis provides a splendid breakfast and can arrange wine tours etc. Lots of local knowledge. Other guests were delightful. Great value and we would recomend to anyone.
