“Very pleasant hotel by the river, just outside Tavira centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

We stayed 9 nights in this nice place. Clean, comfortable beds and a very pleasant owner.
Tavira is a charming and authentic village with plenty of restaurants and cafes with terraces. We have been birdwatching every day and from the Inn we could cover a wide range of good spots, including a trip to Alentejo. The rooms have a fridge so we enjoyed our own private breakfast on the balcony in the sun every morning (pack a little water boiler and mugs - we didn't). A big supermarket is 15 minutes' walk, at the other side of the centre. Bus station at a few hundred metres from Tavira Inn, also convenient to get back to Faro.
Sebastiao is a very good and caring host. We like this sort of place very much and Sebastiao keeps everything in perfect order, since he seems to be very well organized.

Room Tip: Morning sun front side, shaded balconies front side en shaded terrace at sea pool. One room at the b...

“very nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We really enjoyed our stay in Tavira Inn, which has a pleasant location on the river. The train is rather loud but as others have mentioned it is quite infrequent and it even became one of our jokes as we waited for it to arrive. It also isn't too early or late so it doesn't wake you up at night. Sebastiao recommended two great restaurants which were the best meals we had in the whole holiday and Tavira is a lovely town to visit. The balcony room was very nice and the decor is tasteful. The only thing we would have liked was to have access to cutlery, plates, glasses etc so that we could have made breakfasts and lunches on the balcony. There is a friendly cafe nearby who lent us their cups and spoons in the morning but it would have been nice to have been able to make sandwiches etc more easily, as there is no breakfast provided. Anyway this point aside it was a very good introduction to the Algarve and I would recommend it.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms upstairs are very nice

Somewhere a bit different from the standard hotel, with real character.Sebastiao welcomes you warmly and is justifiably proud of his intimate small hotel. The room was spacious , very clean. and with great decor. The pool was a refreshing bonus which we both enjoyed.Location is good, just a short stroll to restaurants etc.Sebastiao is really helpful and a great source of local knowledge.Overall, excellent!!

“A really relaxing place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Tavira Inn is a wonderful place to stay if you want to be very close (a few minutes' walk) to the centre of a beautiful historical small town ( with sandy swimming beaches not too far away) - and yet to feel away from it all. The peace and quiet of Tavira Inn's ambiance is extremely relaxing, and best of all the pool is a terrific extra amenity. Host Sebastiao is very welcoming. All in all a great place for a holiday.

“A Perfect Getaway”

We chose Tavira Inn as we didn't want a large, busy hotel and were happy to have fewer facilities. It turned out to be a really lovely place in a very convenient location - just a short stroll along the river to the Plaza. Sebastiao's creative talents are in evidence throughout the Inn with its tasteful decor and quirky art work. We had requested the room with a pool view as recommended in another review and although the view was from the side of the little balcony, this was a good choice. The room was very clean and cool enough without air con, the bed comfortable and the shower hot (though probably a bit cramped for anyone above average size). The salt water pool was just the right temperature after sunbathing and the poolside was great for relaxing with a book. Outside noise - from traffic, dogs and the train - was noticeable at times but, considering that we come from a quiet part of Ireland, it was never a nuisance to us. Sebastiao was a gracious host who gave us good tips about where to eat/visit and helped make our week's stay a very enjoyable one. Tavira itself is a pretty town with a friendly, family atmosphere, good restaurants and some little places worth visiting: The Museum/Gallery which had 2 great exhibitions on during our stay; the Science Museum is great for kids; the Camera Obscura for a wacky view of the town; the castle for its views and lovely garden. All in all, highly recommended!
