“Extremely small rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

We have spent only one night and luckily, that only one, because the size of the double room was below any standard. Apart of the double bad, there is no place. even to store the luggage.
Also the bathroom is very tiny and uncomfortable.
The location is from one side attractive - on the main pedestrian walkway of Jurmala, but from the other, there is quite noisy in the night.
The building is sweet, wooden, old villa, but the interior is reconstructed pretty nonchalantly.
The service is ok, especially in the restaurant, which could be recommended as one from the best in Jurmala.
The price, almost 100 € in the August season, is absolutely too high from the reasons, I have described.

“One day trip to Akvaparks and Jurmala staying in a nice cosy hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2010

We used the combination offer of tickets to Akvaparks combined with a stay and breakfast at Villa Joma hotel. The hotel is a small beautiful wooden hotel. The hotel and rooms are clean and the staff was very friendly. Our only critics of the room was that the curtains was not able to block the sunlight very good, so our little girl woke up very early.
The breakfast was OK (pancakes is always popular among kids) for adults the selection was minimal but there was only a few guests so that might be the reason. The location of the hotel is great; it is right on the very beautiful pedestrian street and 10 min walk from the amazing beach.

“Winter Wonderland”

Got the bright idea of a new kind of christmas present for my wife, Jurmala in Latvia, spa and all the pampering she deserved. Three days after Christmas we were on our way. Stayed at the Villa Joma because the idea of a timber hotel appealed to me and the pictures looked good. Did I forget to mention that the price was very attractive. We loved the place. Cheerful reception, especially as like many Irish people I have no european language, we expect the receptionists to be multi lingual - how presumptious !!. That was exactly what we found. Charming receptionists, both female and male seamlessly dealing with people in english, german and other languages. The room was fine, after you came to grips with the odd squeek you get from an all timber house,- just added to the charm really.
The restaurant was just the business !. Breakfasts were great and by lunchtime we found ourselves whetting our appetites for the evening meal. Menu was varied, great food and delightfuly presented. I still have a photograph of a dessert ordered for my wife that was a fabulous construction !
The hotel is small and on what is the equivalent of Main Street. Jurmala could be viewed as either a small town or a large village from an era of a decade or so. Charm oozes from Villa Joma when it is covered with snow.
We used the Baltic Beach Hotel for its spa. It was a brilliant experiance also and at a price that was at least half what we would have paid at home. Used the facilities over a number of days. Astonishing size of Spa and lots of helpful professionals.
Being Irish and not too far from Blarney I should say , I was stunned when on our day of departing to respond to a knock on our bedroom day and find one of the receptionists with a bottle of Riga Balzam as a gift.

“simply great”

Hotel looks like recently renovated. My room was very clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly, but the breakfest was real delightful: special service for each guest, you can choose every dish from menu (breakfest is included for free) and all that I had tried was delicious.
Location is great as well, 5 min. from beach.

“Awful attitude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2006

I wanted to stay at this hotel and was even offered a reasonable price however when I was about to book the room (some 24 hours after the initial request) I was told the situation had changed and now the room is not available any more for the entire period. Perhaps this is considered "normal" by the staff of this hotel yet I disagree - when you tell a customer there is a room available you should wait 24 hours for the customer to reply before you give it to somebody else. With such an attitude I wouldnt be surprised to be told upon arrival my room is already taken.
