“Wonderful Apartment in a wonderful City.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

I've never written a review on here but felt overwhelmingly compelled to after my amazing stay in Pilve apartments.

When you get to reception you are greeted by the most wonderfully helpful ladies who offer you all the advice you need to make your stay in Tallinn as memorable as possible. They speak perfect English and will answer any questions you may have.

We were staying in a 3 bed apartment and were instantly impressed when we arrived at our room. The rooms are soooo spacious. We visited in December and it was -3 and snowing outside but the rooms have under-floor heating which was brilliant.

Ok, so a toaster or grill in the kitchen would have been good but we managed fine without them. We were on a budget but still ate most of our meals out. There are plenty of cheap places in the old town if you look around (Lasagne <5 Euro).

There is a massive shopping centre 5 mins walk away with supermarket. The Old town is where you will spend most of your time though. Its a maze of beautiful streets with amazing architecture. There were restaurants, bars and Cafés everywhere. Also when we visited, the Christmas markets were there selling all sorts of traditional wares. If you're cold grab a mulled wine, or Glögg as its known, this will warm the cockles.

The walk into town takes no more than 10 mins or if you are feeling a bit lazy get a taxi back for around 7 Euro.

I could go on for ages about how much we enjoyed our stay but I don't want to bore you. All I will say is anyone leaving a negative review about this place needs their eyes tested. Oh, and you could have heard a pin drop at night in our apartment but maybe we were lucky and didn't have anyone above or below us.

BOOK NOW you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: I think some corner rooms were dual aspect but can't imagine it would make much difference.

“Well-kept apartments in a quiet but convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

A positive experience @ Pilve Apartments.

The apartment (1-bed) was clean, warm and well-equipped. Situated in a modern block, the apartments are accessed via electronic code only, offering ultimate convenience and dispensing with the hassle of keys. As we also found, checking out on your day of departure is not necessary - if you have no issues/problems, just leave! - no need to check out at reception.

The kitchen included a fridge, cooker (hob/stove only), kettle, cooking utensils. The bathroom was large and clean. The bedroom (2 x twin beds, although we are a couple who usually sleep in a double bed) was on the small side, but perfectly adequate, with comfortable beds. The lounge area had a comfortable sofa, breakfast table, storage (wardrobe, drawers, etc.) and a TV.

If you're fit and healthy, the Old Town and other major attractions of Tallinn can be reached on foot in well under 10 minutes. If you're less fit (or just don't want to walk), the well-served bus-stop of 'Koidu' is located <1m walk from the apartments, where frequent and very short bus or trolleybus trips can take you to the Old Town and elsewhere. There is also a major shopping centre (including a very well-stocked supermarket) <5m walk away.

The only (minor) downside of the Apartments were:

1) There was no toaster (or grill) in the kitchen

2) One of the bedroom walls was dominated by a large piece of 1-way glass. You cannot see INTO the bedroom through this glass, but you can see OUT of the bedroom, and the glass had no curtains. The problem with this was that the bedroom remained extremely bright when even the dimmest of lights was kept on in the living room, affecting the sleep quality of one trying to nap whilst fellow traveller(s) are still awake and occupying the living room. A pair of curtains would've come in handy here...

3) The TV service is really poor, with the vast majority of channels offering American/English shows dubbed into Estonian, as well as a plethora of Russian channels. Again, no biggie, since we didn't come to Tallinn to watch TV, but don't expect much entertainment in that respect.

...All in all, a pleasant stay with no real problems at all. Great price, too. I will be staying again, should I find myself revisiting Tallinn.

“Great budget apartments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

I checked out Pilve apartment on Trip and thought I would give them a try. I was traveling with two other friends and finding a reasonable triple in Tallinn was difficult. The apartment was basic, but had two small bedrooms and a living room/kitchen. I really like having a place to relax and visit with friends while traveling. We also liked that there were no keys to loose, just number plates by the entrances and the apartment. There is a huge shopping center close by and the old city is a 10-15 minute walk.

“An uninspiring stay in an inspiring city!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Recommended on trip advisor I had high hopes for the hotel, the price was good and the free wireless internet sounded great as well. The pictures on the internet of the apartments showed them to be light and contemporary in design as well. The reality was a little different; on arrival all seemed well, polite and friendly so no problems there at any point. The issues for me were, 1. The apartment - this was a basement level, spartan apartment with only two small windows and very little imagination in decor. 2. The noise - we were next to the gate and during the night this was a constant source of irritation as the clanging of the gate and rumbling of car engines continued till as least 3 or 4 in the morning and began at 5.30 again! The potential was definitely there and I wonder of we were put in the worst apartment or something given the reviews on here about the place!

It wasn't bad and the word average to me seems about right, contrary to the impression I got from the internet. Basically a bit more thought is needed to improve the rather drab basement/dungeon.

Room Tip: Ask for anything but the basement rooms and nowhere near the gate

“Perfect for a group”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2011

We stayed here for a stag party and it was perfect. A close supermarket to stock up and only 1km or so from the Old Town. If you don't like walking to the main area of the city, then it might not be for you, but a taxi was only 5 Euros if you're feeling lazy.
Clean, tidy and helpful staff. It was perfect for us but, be warned, there were 3 stag parties there when we were, so you might want to be wary if you're with young children.
