I was really suprised by Vilnius as a city. Very cheap and lots of things to see. 2 days would suffice though. Watch out for the taxi drivers as they will rip you off, even on the meter. The hotel was a little out of the centre, although it only cost £4 taxi. Food was adequate although a little basic. Rooms basic but clean with air con (switched on and controlled by reception - strange). The roadside rooms have double glazing, so little noise. Overall coud not ask for more for £33 for 2 people B&B.

I would not recommend this hotel.

1) I had a small amount of money taken from my room (it was returned after I complained and they claimed the maid thought it was a tip)
2) The curtains in my room covered only 2/3 of the window. The window was about 6-8m long! When I asked, they said that sorry this was just the case in some rooms!
3) No iron to iron my clothes...not good if on business trip
4) Radiator did not work....not good if winter outside
5) Rooms are sparse, view out of window is block of soviet-style flats, not close to town centre (although bus stop outside hotel)
6) Food is pretty dull

Only good things were - staff polite (if not useful), free internet access (1 computer only)...er and that's it.

Only stay here if desperate or on a budget and do not want to use hostels.

The hotel is located about 2 km from the citycenter. A local bus goes right in front of the hotel and it's cheap.
Our family got two doubleroom with shared bedroom which was perfect for our needs.
The breakfast was excellent. Nice stuff. Secured carparking.
I willl absolutely recommed this hotel.

My family (2 adults, three kids) stayed at the Zemaites in late July. We could not find anything available/affordable right in town, so we took a chance on the Zemaites. The biggest drawback to the hotel is its location --it's about 2 kilometers from Old Town, so its not very walkable with kids, but Old Town is reachable by bus or taxi. Don't be to put off by the neighborhood (Soviet-style apartment blocks and warehouses) because the hotel itself looks brand new and the rooms were clean and simply furnished with Scandanavian style-furniture. We even ended up eating in the hotel restaurant, which was not bad. The staff is very friendly and service oriented, and there is guarded parking in back if you've brought your car. All and all, not a bad choice for families or those who are traveling by car.
