“Peaceful hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The hotel is well situated, walking distance to the bridges to cross to the Pesta side. The thermal spa is at the back of it. The views onto the Parlament and the bridges in the night are just wonderful. Overall, very good place to stay, the service excellent. No room service, just to have in mind. I had a suite and it was absolutely excellent, comfortable and quiet.

“Great value/location/staff/clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

From start to finish this was a great choice such good value for money and everything you could hope for really.

The Kiraly spa next door I could live in gladly. It is so relaxing and so much more therapeutic than the larger more decorative baths such as gellert which i unfortunately wasted precious time on. Stroll over takes about 2mins and the hotel had a discounted rate for residents but it does not include towel rental this is very important if you dont want to bring your purse with you. We brought old swimsuits and just dumped them at the end of the weekend the minerals do smell but honestly i dream of being back in that water again.

We were glad we chose a hotel with breakfast included as it was between that and having a pool and sure the baths were right next door and we were well prepared for sight seeing everyday. The restaurant had lovely food and breakfast was very relaxing with a patio outside aswell if the weather is good enough. The selection of cakes were beautiful and the usual cereals and yoghurt but no fresh fruit. Unfortunately the restaurant is not open at weekends/bank holidays. Our package booked with the hotel included a welcome drink we were surprised by and were told we could have anything we wanted including a bottle of hungarian champagne at anytime we chose over our stay. The minibar is restocked everyday with complimentary soft drinks and water.

Also with the package was the floating bus tour and the budacard. This is excellent and with the location so ideal it is very close to the river and almost directly opposite the parliament. It took us about 20mins to walk to the chain bridge and there is a bus stop right beside the lovely little church next to the hotel. The Mammut shooping centre is about the same distance away and Dora or any of the receptionists are as always great with everything including directions and bus/tram routes. The castle area is really close and you are on the main tram line that runs all along the river to gellert and the chain bridge for the funicullar up to the castle. I would really recommend doing the walking tours included free with the buda card it was very good.

The rooms themselves were lovely the package included a free upgrade to a suite. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in I dont know if it was the baths or the bed but I slept better than I would even in my own bed. Spotlessly clean. Internet if you want but there is free internet located to the side in the small bar downstairs. Dont forget luggage storage and a quick 2hrs pre flight in the spa.... they even gave us towels from the hotel after we'd checked out when they heard that the entrance deal they had on offer didnt include towel rentals. No need to hesitate.

“Well worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We had a deal via Groupon however I would not hesitate in booking this hotel independently as it was really good value. It central location makes it very easy to walk to Castle Hill and Gellert hill. We were able to access most of the main sights on foot in Pest as well. The hotel is a business styled hotel but there are plenty of soft settees to relax in in the lobby. The bar is small but pleasant. Breakfast has been amended since the poor review a couple of weeks ago and the fruit salad is cetainley not tinned. The American breakfast is more of a continental breakfast with some sausage and scrambled eggs provided. Cereals, pastrys, bread, cheeses, salami, beans, salad, fruit juices and tea/coffee leaves a lot of choice however awkward the guest. We did not manage to try the evening service in the restaurant as it appeared to be closed in the evening despite being advertised as open on the menu board. Having said that the choices certainly tickled my husbands fancy and he is a very fussy eater.

The suit we had was smashing and there was plenty of space and felt homely. There was also a mini safe in the room. The mini bar contained free non alcoholic drinks. Although it was -14 at night we did not feel cold.

Reception was very helpful. We went on the guided tour as part of the package and I had the misfortune of leaving my mobile on the bus. They had no issues with calling the company several times to see if it had been found. They gave very good travel directions when it came to getting back to the airport. It was also no problem to have drinks charge to the room.

We visited the Kiraly baths. The staff also asked if we had swimwear. We did but I am sure that if we hadn't they would have been able to provide it. Don't let the outside of the baths put you off as it is well worth it just to wallow in hot water only a stones throw away from the hotel. The steam rooms get upto 70 degrees so it is a wonderful way to defrost.

All in all a well recommended hotel and I do plan to visit again.

Room Tip: rooms on the 5th floor have a balcony which might be of interest if you are a smoker

“Fantastic hotel.”

We stayed here in January 2012 for two nights. The weekend away was wonderful with far too much to see in a weekend. However, that might have been due to spending far too much time in the spas! The experience was heightened by Hotel Regnum. Professional staff, quality rooms and located next to Kiraly Spa and approximately 50 meters from the Danube, almost opposite parliament. We will be back!

“"great hotel, lovely staff"”

As soon as we arrived, the staff couldn't do enough to help us, they even prioritized our room so we could check in early. They are all extremely frendly and very welcoming, and they all speak very good english.
The rooms are large, airy and comfortable. Also very clean, we also had a balcony. The breakfast was plentiful and very good.
The hotel is quiet and the location is perfect, with the Király baths only two minutes walk away, and a great Hungarian restaraunt around the corner, and whithin walking distance of the main tourist attractions and the shopping district.
We went on the tour organised through the hotel, which was amazing, and our tour guide Balazs was brilliantly entertaining.
We had a perfect holiday, made better by the friendly atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Budapest.
