We stayed here for 3 nights in June. This is probably one of the strangest hotels I have ever stayed in but one that we enjoyed immensely. It is at the less developed end of the lake, set up in the trees (keep your eye open for its sign), close to the lake and a pleasant stroll into Bled. We were on a motorbike and the "drive" up to the pension is a little steep/slippery depending on your bike. However, when we got up there, the owner insisted that we park the bike under the covered terrace to keep it dry.
It is difficult to describe the actual pension. You can see it was gorgeous once but now the decor is, shall we say, rustic? I agree with the reviewer who said it is the kind of place where you probably can't guarentee everything would work!! So if you like plush, do not stay here!! But it was fine, given the price, I am not complaining.
Actually, not all the rooms have balconies as ours didn't, so request it if you want one.
What was particularly special was the service. We were tired on arrival as we had had a long day on the road and asked if we could eat there that night. Apparantly if we had asked after 5pm it would have been too late but instead they knocked up a basic, simple but excellent meal for us (at low cost). Its the sort of place where you need to ask for things. We asked for tea with milk every afternoon and that was produced with a wry smile. We asked for wine, no problem. I had read somewhere that they would do laundry, so we asked and our washing was whisked away and returned that evening.
The owner and his daughter speak sufficient english and are interested in things.
I would love to know the history of this place! I suspect one day someone will develop it into a modern hotel. And this will be a shame...
Its not a hotel I would recommend to everyone because someone really needs to spend some money on its fabric. But its one of the most memorable places I have ever stayed.
