I stayed at the Hotel Szydłowski for one night as it was more convenient to the airport than the city centre hotels. It is a good hotel with free parking, free internet and bar and restaurant. It is a bit of a distance from the old city centre, but there are trams stops just outside of the hotel. I think it was listed as a 3 star hotel and it deserves at least that rating. Rooms were large and comfortable with air-conditioning and despite having a room next to a busy street, it was quiet once the windows were closed.

This is a great find! I have stayed in the much larger hotels in Gdansk, and this is much better. Very clean, well run, good staff, nice restaurant, cafe, pastry shop in the hotel. Shopping, more restaurants, pubs and transportation are nearby. Staff speaks some English, not perfectly, but generally well enough to get your point across, and they are always very helpful. Many also speak German.

Rooms are larger than in the Hevelius. The singles are better than the doubles if you are alone. Easy to get dial up internet. Tram and train station across the street.

The English pub nearby has Guinness, and the Irish pub has John Courage - go figure!

There is discount shopping across the street, and a new mall down the street; lots of other stores, groceries, banks, exchange shops right in the area. Even a McDonalds!
