This pension is a gem. It is less than 100 yards from the tram stop, one stop from Wenceslas Square, and very quiet. I had difficulty sleeping the first night because of the icebox in my room, but once I turned it off, I slept like a log. (Room 2b).
This a pension, not a hotel. They provide shampoo and soap, as do many midprice European establishments, but bring conditioner if you have frizzy hair, as you can also use that as body lotion. You only get 2 towels, but I always bring a spare one. (If you order a double room used as a single, you get double towels).
There is a small fridge, a hot plate and a microwave, so you could eat lunch in your room if you wanted to buy it in from the supermarket. Breakfast is also served in your room, which is great if you are a woman travelling alone.
I am lactose intolerant, and the manager had organised soya milk for me and replaced the yogurt and cheese of the breakfast with fresh pineapple.
It was scrupulously clean, even the grouting on the shower, which is what I always look out for.
There is a night watchman who turns on the lights for you as you go up the stairs, so you aren't stranded on a dark landing, and in general, the standard of care was excellent.
The bed was comfortable, the shower worked, the location was totally quiet yet central, and the management was helpful. What more could you ask for?
