“Quirky!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Probably the strangest hotel I've ever stayed in! We got there late evening and reception was bathed in a gloomy glow. No cobwebs were actually visible but they had to be there. At 10pm the bar and restaurant were very very closed, so refreshment options were entirely dependent on the minibar, and entertainment options entirely dependent on the selection of programmes - all of them in Czech or dubbed into it - available on the TV. The hotel is 3 stops on the bus + 6 on the metro from the centre of Prague, and there is NO local
nightlife whatsoever. So that's the negatives. On the plus side the staff are all complete sweethearts, very helpful and accommodating, the rooms are beautiful, spacious, very warm and comfy and excellent value for money. If peace and quiet is your bag this is the hotel for you - it's definitely eccentric though!

“Venerable but poorly managed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2011

The plaque by the door says the Villa Voyta is a four-star (first-class) hotel. It might have been at one time, but not now.

On the plus side:

The building is venerable; an old mansion in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms are large (we had the corner room -- #4 -- and it was extra large). There is free, limited off-street parking. And one of the front desk persons gave us some good tips.

The location affords fairly easy access to Prague. It's about 8 KM south of the city center. A bus-stop is two blocks away (never more than a five minute wait) and it's only four stops to the closest Metro station (Kakerov). The Metro is modern and the fastest we've experienced. To simplify matters, buy Metro/bus tickets at the front desk. They cost the same as ones you can buy at a kiosk and you can use them for buses and the Metro.

About 1.5 KM away, there is a wonderful, gravel jogging/bike path that goes for many kilometers through a forest and along a stream. The front desk personnel didn't know about the path. The park entrance is just north of the hospital that's about 1 KM east of the hotel. Here's a Google Map link: http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=K+Nov%C3%A9mu+dvoru&daddr=50.033749,14.456083&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=50.028958,14.451485&spn=0.011303,0.015707&sll=50.026739,14.44994&sspn=0.011304,0.015707&geocode=FeVO-wIdnXHcAA%3BFVV0-wIdE5XcAA&mra=ltm&dirflg=w&t=h&z=16

On the down side:

Management is mediocre, as evidenced by the poorly trained staff. We requested a non-smoking room but the first room offered to us was filled with cigarette smoke; as if the previous occupant had just left. We had no maid service the first day and, after letting the front desk know about it, the only thing done in our room the second day was to get new towels. The receptionist needed two attempts over two days to input our passport numbers.

The mattresses were ancient and sagged nearly to the floor. The printed TV listing showed a dozen satellite channels (most in English), but all we had were local Czech stations. The breakfast buffet offered limited options and had the worst coffee we've tasted (we drank tea instead).

Room Tip: Corner room #4

“very nice hotel out of town.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2010

We stayed here over the easter break. Booked at the last minute & accomm in town was very difficult to find, plus everyone puts the prices up for easter, this place had a discounted rate. The choice was a hostel or this hotel for the same money. The decision was very easy.

Great place. The only slight down side was their english was not very good. But that's only minor

“The restaurant Villa Voyta is a dead failure”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2010

We were not in the hotel, but only visited the restaurant. We were really dissapointed. The food was salted too much and there was nothing special about the food. It is really overpriced. Do not eat there, do not waste your time and money. The waiter was totally slow, we waited for the bill 45 minutes and there were some mistakes in the bill afterall, we had to complain about that.
