“I would stay there again!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2011

Positive things: I was amazed by the sleep quality, the bed was even better than the one I have in home. The rooms were very clean also, and with nice interior design. It was the best choice for its price.

Negative things: It was 12 stops away from the center of the town with the tram, but the tram was so close to the hotel. Breakfast, meals and service could have been better.

Goodish if a bit out of the way. But beware a lack of customer friendliness you hire irons and their taxis are pricey (even if the driver wa great)

“Pretty Good”

The Iris Congress Hotel is about 20-30 min. outside of the city center by tram. The tram stop is Slavia. This is a new hotel that is attached to a soccer/football stadium, across the street from a shopping mall. I stayed for about 10 days.

I was slightly concerned about the noise level during a game, but the games were in the early evening and never seemed to be a problem for me or any of my attendees. In fact one of them had one of the only rooms overlooking the stadium (429) and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The food at the hotel was great. The service was okay. The hotel bar is only open until 10pm each night and this was a problem for my attendees as there really wasn't any other bars or restaurants in the area to go to. Many went to the 24 hour Tesco in the mall to get alcohol and hang out in the lobby.

There is free wi-fi in the lobby which everyone liked. Also, you can get free ethernet in the hotel rooms if you unplug the cable from your phone and put in the computer.

The rooms were clean when I got there, but I can't say that the daily cleaning service did much more than make my bed and take out the trash.

The front desk personnel varied by the day---some were extremely friendly and some gave you bored looks when you asked for help, however they all provided the answers I was looking for.

The tram was very easy to use and only about 1 block from the hotel. Be ready to spend a lot of time on the tram, as I've said before, there's not much to do in this area.

Overall the hotel is a good value for the money (US$45/night) it's just a bit of a distance to the sightseeing areas.

One further note for business people, they do not have a business center, though they are marketed as a "congress hotel" and there is no place near the hotel to make copies. The staff accommodated me by having me email the reception and having them print things on their fax machine. This was a slow process and didn't lend itself to the usual amounts of mass copies I need for an event.

“Beware ! New entrances isnt always good”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2008

The hotel:Yes, the hotel is new and it is part of a stadium. This is the only fact that is correct from its subscription. But it is not in fact a four-star hotel due to its dirtyness, and mostly for its unkind, inattentive and careless personnel.
The room:We originally booked a triple room which was uncomfortable since the third bed was across the corridor so there was no space left to get to the toilet when it opened. They gave us the keys to an appartment (one twin-bedded room and other with a couch) but after a few hours the room wasnt actually cleaned. When I told that to the receptionist she left with a brush and etc to go and clean it! Ok she was helpful at the time but this in not receptionist's duty in a four-star hotel.
Above all that ,late at night we realized that one bed was broken (in the twin-bedded room). They told us that it will be fixed the other day but this never happened since the day we left.Instead of fixing it the other day they recommended us to share the couch!
Τhe food:Breakfast was acceptable but the fisrt day at the dinner which was a bouffet-dinner staff was sitting behind it and let us knew that we could only eat one piece of meat!I have never seen to a buffet to have limits in our choices!
Location: tram is ok to tranfer to the centre, but there are so many centrally located cheap hotels that its not worth it afterall.
Finally I want to mention that to my opinion all these problems had to do with the hotel's policy since it had very few people for staff , so not interest of keeping the clients satisfied .

  • Liked — it was only for three days thank god!
  • Disliked — the smell in our room directly coming from the Macdonalds downstairs
