“Fairytale Hotel in a Fairytail Town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

My wife and I stayed here for three nights as part of our honeymoon in Sept 2010, and I can not praise this hotel highly enough.

If you have never been to Cesky Krumlov in the first place, then please, please put it at the TOP of your list. It is the prettiest town you will ever visit!

The Hotel Villa Conti was converted into a boutique hotel in the late 80s I think, and what an incredible job they have done. We had one of the suites for our stay, so were pampering ourselves a little.

Our room was so very beautiful, with a huge four poster bed in the middle, wardrobe, antique dressing table, stool, sideboard, large Sony LCD TV and DVD player, sofa, coffee table and two lounge chairs in. A huge bathroom, beautifully tiled was on-suite.

The Breakfast room is on the ground floor with vaulted ceiling and access to a small terrace over looking the neighbour's private orchard.

Martina, whilst serving as the receptionist, seems to be able to run the hotel single handed. She has worked there for many years and is worth her weight in gold. She can not do enough for the guests and was never fazed by all the questions we kept firing at her both before the trip and during our stay.

If she is ever head-hunted by another hotel, I think a lot of guests who have stayed at The Villa Conti will follow her there!

Breakfast, whilst not winning any awards for originality or design, was generous and the perfect way to set ones self up for the day.

The hotel does not serve as a restaurant, but there are SO many extremely good ones in Cesky Krumlov within ten minutes walk, that you would never try all of them in a stay of many months. Again Martina was more then happy to recommend a few tailored to our wishes, and boy was she spot on with her recommendations.

Overall. Cesky Krumlov is a MUST HAVE place to visit and the Hotel Villa Conti a MUST HAVE place to stay.

“The most beautiful room I´ve ever seen!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

This hotel has all the things you need to know to have a romantic stay: Well located, confortable, nice bathrooms, but amaizing beautiful romantic-historic environment in the rooms. Matha is not just a very nice person as efficient and kind.

If I come back to Cesky Krumlov, I will stay there!

“Spacious Rooms in a Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2009

We were a bit hesitant about booking the Villa Conti because of the lack of reviews. It LOOKED like a nice property, and the prices were much better than the other nice hotels in town, so we went for it.

I'm glad we did, because it was a true hidden gem. It was still one of the most expensive hotels of our trip--pricier than the big cities--but that's apparently what has happened since Krumlov was "discovered". The location made it pretty good value for money despite that price tag. Our room was in the annex, which is basically across the "street" (small cobblestone lane) from the hotel. Both the annex and the hotel are right in the center of Krumlov, steps from all the major attractions. It was a great home base for seeing the town.

The room itself was huge--by far the biggest room we had in 2 weeks in Europe. It was clear that in the building's original life it had been several rooms, which now have been made into a bar/sitting area and the bathroom (divided into a shower/sink in one room and a toilet/sink in the other). It was beautifully furnished, and the bed was quite comfortable.

Our only complaint is so minor it's barely worth a mention--the TV in the room only got 2 channels. Of course, watching TV in Europe was not a big priority--but Krumlov doesn't have a lot of night time activities, especially since we were there at the end of the season, so we were in our room a bit earlier in the evening.

Breakfast was a nice spread. We stayed mostly in B&Bs, so the atmosphere here was a bit more like a traditional hotel--buffet style food, individual tables, minimal (but good) service. We were offered cooked-to-order eggs one morning, but not the other. The hotel seemed equally busy both days, so I'm not sure what the difference was. The buffet had the typical central European spread--cheese, meat, yogurt, hard boiled eggs (they disappeared fast and weren't always refilled), bread, cereal.

Overall, if we returned to Cesky Krumlov we would stay here again. Of course, I think we saw most of what the town had to offer in our 2 days, so on our next trip to the area we will likely visit someplace new.

“Charming property, excellent staff, best location in Krumlov!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2009

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Conti for 2 nights, October 25-27, 2009.

Word of warning about Cesky Krumlov in general - finding any hotel is difficult by car even with a map because of the small, winding roads which do not have street signs. After driving around nervously for over an hour, we finally found a gas station where a taxi driver offered to lead us to the Hotel Villa Conti for a mere 50CK (about 3.00 USD). It ended up that we were only a few minutes away but could never have found it on our own.

That being said, the Hotel Villa Conti is an excellent choice - Martina in reception waited late for us - due to being lost we arrived much later than expected. She was very comforting and helped us find our way to the parking lot they use which is about 0.5 km away, you can unload your luggage out front then you have to move your car to the parking lot. Martina reassured us that we would love Cesky Krumlov and that it was very safe. Once we got settled and got rid of the car, we couldn't agree more!

The room was very romantic, quaint with a great view. There are hairdryers in the room, but the only soap provided is bath gel and no wash cloths (this is typical of Europe but I thought I'd mention it). The location is awesome - steps from the castle and easy strolling to the main square. Lots of shops and restuarants within easy walking distance. Breakfast was included - breads and rolls, excellent croissants, cereals and one morning they were making made-to-order eggs (when the hotel was not as full).

“What a beautiful room!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2009

We stayed in Cesky-Krumlov just for one night. The Villa Conti was beautiful inside and the staff was very nice and helpful. We had a little trouble finding the hotel (we were driving from Prague) and ended up parking and walking into town. If you drive, make sure you have a small car! Getting to the hotel is no problem to drop off luggage, but to drive out of the city to the parking area (which is quite far) requires driving on a narrow, crooked, cobblestone "street".

Our room was very large and had antique furnishings. The bathroom was also very large and had great water pressure. Breakfast was served in a vaulted room by reception and had a nice selection of breads, jams, Nutella (yum!), meats, cheeses, and they'll make eggs for you if you like.

The only downside is that there isn't a lift, so keep in mind that rooms on the first floor are actually on the second.

There is a fabulous Italian restaurant just on the corner that makes their own pizza as you watch. Great atmosphere. The castle and theatre are closed on Mondays.
