We stayed at The Anchor Motel for 2 nights and were very happy with our choice. We were given a free upgrade to a larger room which was very clean. The swimming pool was a big bonus. We would stay here again if we are ever in the area.

My husband and I stayed here for just over a week as we were traveling around Australia and we absolutely loved it. The rooms have clearly all been renovated and our room was spotlessly cleaned everyday. The staff were also extremely helpful and they definitely went the extra mile by preparing the BBQ for us, and even setting the table on several nights when we made dinner.
You can easily walk to all the bars and restaurants in Noosaville - on Gympie Terrace, and you are just a short drive from the absolutely beautiful National Park.
Definitely a great place to stay!
The positives: the rooms are large and clean. The air conditioning worked well, there was free parking and also free wi-fi.
The negatives: the owners are just so rude. My husband phoned up the day before to enquire if there was any chance we may be able to secure an early check-in as we had a wedding that afternoon. He spoke to Camille Dwyer, one of the owners of the motel. She was very surly, said "everybody asks" for an early check-in, that it is not possible and that we should just go directly to the wedding (we were driving from 3.5 hours away). However, if we really wanted we could call by at 1pm to see if our room was ready.
We called by at 1pm. My husband then spoke to Brian Heuston, the other owner of the motel, and asked if there was any chance the room was available as Camille had recommended we drop by. Brian replied "No. Have I answered that for you?". We walked around the suburb until check-in at 2pm.
The Information Booklet has just one page on tourism (Australia Zoo), no information on how to get around the Coast, and 4 pages on rules and regulations of the motel. There are literally pages of variously bolded or capitalised statements ("NO <insert equipment> ALLOWED IN THE ROOMS", "DO NOT <insert action here>") - all reasonable requests but the sheer volume and tone is very brusque and doesn't encourage customers to approach the owners. I couldn't find a shower cap, soap, or information on taxis however didn't contact Reception - partly because I didn't want to disturb them, partly because I didn't want to be treated like crap on quite a happy day!
There is also a page in the booklet on the Anchor Motel's complaints procedure. Their strategy commences with the words "Should you have a genuine complaint..." (rather than a false one?), and notes that they will "take action we consider to be appropriate". Given Camille and Brian's utterly unnecessary surliness and unhelpfulness during our stay, I do not believe they would consider any customer complaint to be genuine let alone actually respond with goodwill.
Reviewers on tripadvisor have had both very positive and very negative experiences with the owners of the motel. So why risk a negative experience? We were friendly and did nothing to deserve their surliness. There are plenty of other accommodation alternatives on the Sunshine Coast. Try them instead.
Lovely stay here. More like a hotel really. Spotless, modern rooms. Comfy bed and good kitchen facilities in room (fridge bit noisy). Nice balcony to sit out on. Owners work there and are nice, if a little 'rigid/kirt'. I don't expect a phone call at 9am asking when we'll be out the room by so they can clean it or to 'remind us' that checkout's at 10am. Give us a break, we're on our honeymoon! Location ok but uou do need own transport for hasting's rd and beach gympie terrace close though which is lovely too. Good overall though and best motel we stayed at in Aus.
We stayed in lovely Noosa at this motel - overall clean rooms, a nice jacuzzi pool. Very friendly staff at the front, they helped us try to sort out activities while we were in Noosa. The only drawback for this motel was that you had to drive to get to the beach/waterfront/kayaking/restaurants - basically anywhere.
