“Brilliant little place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Stayed here a few nights on my trip through Australia and it is probably one of my favorites for that whole trip. It is a cute little place on top of a hill, close to transport, the beach and shops. Staff was friendly and helpful, my room was clean and quirky and I met some fantastic people while I was there! On top of that Noosa is a great little town.

O yeah, and the food out of the kitchen is very good and reasonably priced...

Loved this place! Good meal deals! You can walk to the shopping street and beach in a minute or two! Also close to the rainforest walks! Set in its own rainforest too! Parking available. Lots to do in Noosa, we had a great time!

“Needs Work to Make All Guests Feel Welcome”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Firstly I should point out for the people who read have read my reviews previously you may be aware that I am visually impaired (registered blind in the UK) and some of what I say here is covered in my travel blog Blindly Going.

I got a bad feeling about this place even before I arrived. I made an online booking through their own website requesting a lower bunk as I am visually impaired and for obvious reasons this would make life easier for me.

I didn't get a response after a few days to I called them to ask about my booking. I was shocked to discover that they could not guarantee me this and therefore may not be able to offer me accommodation. I had never experienced this with any other hostel.

When I finally arrived I was told that they would have to speak to the two other people in the lower beds in my 4 bed dorm to see if they would be willing to swap beds. It would have been much easier if they had sorted this out before my arrival. I arrived just after 1030am and was told that I may have to wait until about 1230 or 1pm for my room as rooms were still being cleaned.

I waited around and decided that as it seemed to be so much hassle for them that I would book somewhere else for the next evening despite having paid for 2 nights.

I got to my room at around 1pm. It was adequate and I decided as I was moving that I couldn't be bothered to move although there was a pile of stuff at the bottom of the ladder to my bunk bed as you can see in my pictures.

I just chilled out in the main lounge area for the rest of the day. I was tired after my 16.5 hour bus journey from Airlie beach to Noosa Heads.

I had a few drinks in the bar. It was cheap, but the bartender was not very engaging with the customers.

At around 6pm I went back into the main lounge to discover quite a few people having a welcome drink and meet. I had not been invited to this at check-in. It looked like there were a few more people who had been missed off the welcome meeting too. I spoke to Drew the owner who apologised for this and got me a glass of wine, as well as the other guests tey had failed to tell about the welcome drink and meet.

By this stage I was glad that I had booked somewhere else as I did not feel very welcome at this place. I had dinner in the restaurant which was fine and a fair price. I also had breakfast here which was a little expensive, but good quality apart from the hair in my coffee!

I was glad that I only stayed one night as the sleep quality was poor due to a lack of air conditioning in rooms. The building is a nice heritage structure but lacks some useful facilities including power outlets in rooms.

I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to disabled travellers.
