Food? Is better you bring own to cook.Nearest town area is about 10min.drive.Where resturant, supermart located.
Date when there Oct.2009.

Room Tip: Take chalet 1 or 4 ,don't take centre.Nothing different, but because of privacy.

Thanks for the review - glad you enjoyed your stay. Most people do end up with a chalet preference... but they're always different! Often our repeat guests have a favourite. Just let us know and we'll do our best to give you the chalet of choice! Hope you can make it back this way in the future.

“Exceptional. Warm and friendly service. Two thumbs up!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

Do your self a favour and get down there!!. Went down with a group of friends but would love to get down there again for a romantic winter getaway. cosy rammed earth cottages with a pre-lit fire and chesterfield couches, over looking picturesque scenery. Nothing was a problem, the staff went out of their way to ensure a perfect stay. And their famous pancakes are the best and not to be missed!.

“Exceeded our expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

We stayed with a group of friends and hired all 4 cottages. From the moment we got in late friday night, everything was spot on. Firstly the staff had anticipated our late (and cold) arrival and had all 4 wood fires lit and warm. How welcoming, along with a breakfast basket - so that was 2 less things we needed to worry about.
The staff and owners were hospitable and genuine in there desire to make sure our stay was great. Not only that but the price we all paid made the weekend execptional value for money, allowing us to make it a more regular weekend getaway..
All of our friend who stayed with us ageed we should do it again soon, and we already have another weekend planned at Lavender and Berry farm

“Lovely Restful Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

We stayed with friends and everything was just what we needed. Sitting on the verandah at sunset with drinks and snacks was just magic. Breakfast basket was great and the gift shop and cafe on site were handy. Town was only a short drive (a few km) and we enjoyed a nice walk to the Gloucester Tree (for the moderately fit). Hoping to stay again soon.

“Nice place but facilities lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

Me & my family stayed here in Jul 10. The location and landscape is ideal for a relaxed getaway to unwind and enjoy the countryside. With the lake and trees, it’s a scenic place.

Wild ducks and birds around add to the touch. The farm itself has two alpacas and two ponies.

The chalet has a nice cabin feel, with a wood stove that will keep you warm during cold days & nights, but the chalet lacks upkeep and probably also needed more cleaning. There was no soap provided for the shower and only one and a half toilet rolls provided for four people over three days.

The chalet came with a full kitchen and utensils. the electric stove took ages to heat up and the dishes were greasy. No cutting board was provided

The hot water runs out pretty fast. After the 3rd person had their bath (lukewarm by that time), the 4th person had to wait for a while for the water to reheat

The sheets & towels however appeared quite clean which is a plus.

The establishment also has a café which serves pancakes. Despite the hype, it tasted pretty ordinary. The berry sauce was good though. But both my sons had the runs after eating the pancakes

Worthwhile going tfor relaxation if you do not mind basic facilities and are not fussed about upkeep. But I found that there were other places close by which appeared better at lower rates

We had communicated with the guest about his concerns and it appears some issues relate largely to a communication problem. "Self contained" accommodation means that you provide your own supplies, however we choose to provide a complimentary start-up quantities (with usually last a couple of days for guests). There is a notice in the chalet regarding this, however if the guests expected differently, we understand they may have felt disappointed.

It appears that the previous guests did not wash their dishes properly - dishes, cutlery etc is usually checked by our cleaners, so we do apologize for this short-coming.

People often pick up a bug when travelling and we did feel offended that our guest implied that illness was caused from eating our food. We take great pride in what we produce and our kitchen is impeccably clean. We make pancake mix fresh daily - and this is also a very low contamination risk food. If they have left the Cafe feeling unwell it is most likely to have been from an earlier meal - or maybe not food related at all.

Our hot water is stored in a tank (not "instant gas") and will run out if guests take long showers or several showers in a row. It's ok to do this here as we have our own water supply, though a delay in between long showers is necessary to allow water to re-heat.

We're sorry that Mr Manrt felt his weekend didn't meet expectations. We are used to hearing rave reviews about both the accommodation and the pancakes. Visitors travel from far and wide especially to eat our pancakes and the word has got out due to hundreds of happy customers telling their friends.

As for value for money - our rates are very competitive and we have a high percentage of repeat and referred guests in the chalets. Maybe these guests and us were just the wrong match.
