My husband, three children 7,5,4 and myself recently stayed in the most exclusive accommodation Beachlands has to offer...the Jaccuzi Bungulow, for one week. I am in shock at the number of positive reviews this caravan park receives as we found it very difficult to see any.
The owners have crammed as much accommodation in to the small park as possible...greedily trying to generate more reveniew at the detriment of facilities. There is no nice grassy patches to enjoy. The pillow, play ground and pool have no shade which makes them virtually unusable. The pool is no bigger that your average backyard pool yet it is expected to service hundreds of guests? I counted over 40 people in it on one of our visits. The water is so murky you can't see your hands. It is unhygienicly warm due to now shade...a breeding ground for bacteria and parasites.
I brought this to their attention out of concern and was told it was sunscreen-rubbish! If this was so why are most pools clear when all contain swimmers wearing sunscreen? The pool was the cause of all three of our children and myself contracting gastro. We had to seek medical attention and was advised by the doctor to not return to the pool as it was obviously to source. We had not been in contact with any public or outside meals during this time.
We soon discovered we were not alone. There were four other children sick outside their tents holding buckets. One parent told us they used to get sick on previous visits but now don't allow their children to use the pool and haven't had the problem since.
The bungalow appeared clean on first entry but after having to thoroughly clean with disinfectant in an effort to relieve ourselves of gastro this proved otherwise. When wiping the couches I was shocked to see the cloth black with dirt and grime.
Total cost of holiday? Over $2 700 for a week. Could have stayed in real luxury for that and got to enjoy it instead of holding a bucket for most of it. Do your self a favour, stay home and healthy. Give this one a miss.
