We normally stay in Mandalay's Beach Cottages, which are fabulous, but decided to bring the camper trailer this time and get back into some family camping. We booked an ensuite site for our 4 night stay.
We loved that the staff at Mandalay take you to your site and instruct you on reversing into your site. Other caravan parks we have stayed at give you a map and you have to work it out yourself. Check in was easy and the staff are very friendly.
Our site was nice and clean. The ensuite - WOW!!! Nicer than our ensuite at home. There was enough room to store our fishing rods and other bits and pieces. We did accidentally lock the keys in the ensuite overnight on one of our nights there. We popped over to the ablution blocks in the morning before reception opened and they are really nice. They are the best we have seen. They are a credit to Mandalay. The staff were helpfull in the morning, giving us the spare key so we could open our ensuite.
The facilites are great. Bins are spread throughout the park and are within a close distance to each site (not too close to smell them though). We take our own portable BBQ but noticed they are also not too far. The camp kitchen was quite busy, but when you've got so many people camping it's inevitable.
The kids love taking their scooters down to the little shop in reception to buy themselves an ice cream or top up the milk for the fridge. Movie night in the games room is also a highlight.
Our kids get so excited when we say we are going to Mandalay and have a ball. They love playing on the jumping pillow, playing on the playground and riding their scooters around the grounds. They always quickly make friends with other children too.
I would, and do, recommend Mandalay to everyone. My elderly grandparents stay there frequently as does my mum and stepdad, and my sister and her little family. We're booked in again for the April school holidays and can't wait. The kids are aware that we won't be touring the region for this break and they told us 'we don't care, we have more fun at Mandalay anyway'. If we can avoid it, we won't leave Mandalay at all except to go to the beach. We love how Mandalay gives the kids heaps to do, and Mum and Dad can relax. As soon as we can book for the October 2012 holidays, I'll be making the next booking.
We have no issue with the rules, we find they are more common sense and respect than rules anyway.
Thanks Clive and Margaret for yet another enjoyable stay in your beautiful park. I think it's pretty safe to say we'll be back time and time again.
