Our two night stay at Hearn’s Beachside Villas was wonderful. There are a lot of accommodation options in Port Fairy (many of them available from Hearn’s who have an excellent accommodations service accessible via the Web and phone). We chose these villas as a romantic treat to end our short break along the Great Ocean Road (do go that extra kilometer to Port Fairy - definitely worth it). Reservations were easy to do, viewing the great choice on the Hearn Website and then with phone assistance letting us know what was available instantly for only a two night stay.
The villas (four in the complex) are completely private from each other and the beach, in a very quiet location (down a private road) and absolutely beach front. Very modern in a stark (not cold) Med style suited to their location, with air conditioning, sea facing small terrace, rear large patio area with BBQ and tastefully furnished in a very modern style. There was a communal laundry for the complex. The one bedroom unit was very spacious and clean. There was a wide screen TV in the living area with a DVD/VHS player, a sound system and a very modern leather settee. Both the bedroom and living room had large view windows and glass sliding doors. The view was breathtaking and could also be enjoyed from the double spa bath off the bedroom.
Situated about 2 Km from ‘downtown’ Port Fairy the unit had a interesting beach outlook with soft white sand a short step from the terrace, rocky outcrops, rock pools, easy walking to the West and a swimming cove nearby. Also nearby is a top rated gallery café great for lunch or coffee. We self catered using the well equipped kitchen,
complete with everything you needed including dishwasher. There was information in the unit on Port F. restaurants and ordering seafood platters for ‘home’ delivery. We found the kitchen extraction fan over the stove and the bathroom fan (that operated when the bathroom light was on) very noisy. The carpet in the dining/entrance area was worn and needed replacing.
Port Fairy is a lovely historic town with a pretty river, estuary island with boardwalks, historic buildings and some attractive boutiques on main street. We particularly enjoyed shopping in ‘Only Ewe’ and purchased some exclusive designer fine wool polo shirts and bought books at the delightful Ironside Bookshop.
These units deserve their TripAdvisor high rating and we recommend them for any romantic couples seeking absolute privacy, quietness and fabulous views.
