“Great long stay option in Melbourne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

This was my fifth stay at Quest Kew. It's a serviced (daily except Sunday) apartment situated about 10pm north east of Melbourne City centre. Less convenient if you're relying on public transport but great if you have a rented vehicle. There are a few tram lines that run close by, but I would only rely on them if I had lots of time to spare!!

There's a Woolworths next door which opens till late and an Italian supermarket called Leo's, 5 minutes walk further down. As Quest Kew has a full kitchen including utensils, cooking in is a convenient option. Having said that, there are at least 10 restaurants walking distance from the apartment. Also, the apartment has it's own washer and dryer which is great as it means you can pack light and do the laundry in the apartment. For those who find this too much of a hassle, there's a serviced laundry directly across the road from Quest Kew.

I find that the Quest Kew is an excellent option for longer stays in Melbourne located in a very nice suburb reasonably close by to the major highways. It avoids the crowds of the city whilst being close enough to the City to pop over for an evening at some of the great restaurants in the City. As my trip coincided with the Australian Tennis Open, it was a busy time in Melbourne but rooms were still available at Quest Kew because of it's location off the normal touristy areas of Melbourne

“EXPERIENCES WITH QUEST KEW”

Recently stayed here with my husband , son and daughter in law. Found it reasonable and had got a good rate earlier in the year when booking.Pool really cold even though it was supposed to be heated.
But on check out found we had to pay a credit card surcharge, not advised that this would apply on time of booking, which i found odd as we they stayed a night at Quest Bendigo , no surcharged applied here, is this common or not ?
Overall not a bad stay .

“It was ok, but only ok.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

Put simply would I stay here again? Yes, but they really need to clean the apartments better, put some door seals on the external doors to stop them banging closed (nice way to be woken up in the early hours!) and update the duvet and blankets. Most backpackers hostels would have better blankets.

Staff were friendly enough , but the cost is a little too much for the standard of rooms you get. But I like the location, and it is only a 25 min tram ride to the centre of town.

“Dissapointing stay”

Unfortunately , this Quest was the worst Quest we have ever stayed. We arrived late past midnight due to a delay in our flight, the keys of our room were left kindly in a pot inside an envelope. The t8 and 5 were very tired, and we were looking forward to a good night sleep. But they left the wrong keys!!! so we have to call the manager around 12:45am to please come and give us the right key, after 1/2 waiting on the smelly stairs, we have finally got the right keys of our apartment without any major excuse from management, just sorry.
The apartment was very tired, worn out, clean floors and bathrooms but the smell wasn't nice at all.
The linen did not look quite clean and the sheets were wrinkly and smelly too.
That weekend from the 1 to the 4 Oct 2010 was warm in Melbourne and there was only 1 split aircon systmen in the living room, so the rooms were very warm.
We spent the whole weekend out of the apartment thank god for that, because the smell was bad and dissapointing. Location is great close to cafes, shopping outlets, restaurants.

“Quest Kew unfortunately did not meet my expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2010

The room was booked by my husband's employer for a 2 night stay.
We are travelling with our 3 children and stayed in one of Quest kew's 3 bedroom serviced apartment.
- the apartment was dated and in much needed TLC.
- there was thick dust on top of the toilet roll holder suggesting limited cleaning,
- mould on the ceiling over the shower,
- grout in the shower needed scrubbing
- cafe style table outside was falling apart,
- nightstand lights were missing globes,
- the dishwasher didn't work,
- The "fully equipped kitchen" had no cutting implements, tongs or egg flip, the pans were so mis-shapen that we had to cook our meal in the oven because the pan would not heat.
- The taps all leaked constantly,
- We received a reminder call at 7.30am from reception for a taxi we never booked therefore the call became a "wake up" call,
- the mattresses were all old and visibly saggy in the middle "banana bed"
- the stove top was completely worn and it became a guessing game when switching on the stove knobs to see which element would heat.
- The front entry to the apartment had no latch and the door knob was low enough that my 2 year old could, and actually did open the front door and stand out on the landing. The landing at the top of the stairs has a railing and several loose wires strung between each supporting pole. Not at all safe for families.
NOW, the worst thing of all which is currently under investigation by higher management, is thus:
the receptionist handed a spare key to our apartment to one of my relatives without our permission. The reception staff didn't verify with us if the visitor was who he said he was - just gave him a key - no questions asked. The relative was visiting us at the hotel unannounced (we were not on the property at the time) All is well that ends well - however - it could have been a lot more sinister. We had personal papers, jewellery and my laptop all sitting in the room (which by the way, has no safe). When I aired my grievances, the manager told me that "we do it all the time" and that, "It has never been a problem" When I explained why I was upset that she could have potentially compromised our family security she was unrepentant and refused to acknowledge that her actions were naive in this "day and age".
Also, we had to sign a document accepting that we would forfeit $100 if we were to misplace or damage one of the hotel keys - she gave one to my relative, again no questions asked.
Will I stay here again ?
Well considering the state of the room and it's facilities, lack of room security and incompetant staff, I would have to ponder that one!

******AFTER FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH COMPLAINT PROCESS, THE OWNER OF QUEST KEW TELEPHONED ME WITHIN 24 HRS AND APPLOGISED FOR MY 'EXPERIENCE'. AS PART OF MY COMPLAINT RESOLUTION, THE MANAGER OF QUEST KEW OFFERED AND DELIVERED A VOUCHER FOR FUTURE ACCOMODATION AS WELL AS A SMALL GIFT IN COMPENSATION. THE MANAGER ALSO ASSERTED THAT WHAT I EXPERIENCED DURING MY STAY, WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN ON THE QUEST KEW PROPERTY******
