This is an official complaint about "HOLLYWOOD HOTEL" in Phillip Island.
We stayed there for 3 nights from 3 January with my daughter and her partner.
I booked one family room over the phone and paid in full as requested in November.
When we arrived:
The fridge was not on and there was an old milk bottle (1/4 in) in the fridge which someone left it behind.
There is no lock on toilet/shower room that we had to put an object to closed the door each time. Also no lock on the second bedroom, the young couple felt very uncomfortable.
There were many ants on the bench and toilet/shower area.
When we started having drinks, one of the chair’s back suddenly came off. The center of this thin cheep made chair‘s back was wrapped by sticky tape then we did not even try put it back, never used.
We did not complain till next day. As we came back from the beach we noticed that we did not get room cleaning and new towels, we went down to the reception and asked for those. The girl said "THERE IS NO SERVIC AT THIS HOTEL, DIDN'T YOU READ THE WEB SITE?" (Actually I checked web after but there is no sentence about no service), then we started to tell them all about those problems.
The girls at the reception said "WE KNOW, WE CLEAN EVERY DAY". Then one of the girls went to call the owner after giving us new towels (AS SPECIAL). The man came and started to say "WELL THIS TIME OF YEAR,,," we saw his eyes drunk or drug, so my daughter said “ LET'S GO NO USE” so we left the reception. We appreciated the towels even after she said “WE GIVE IT TO YOU AS SPECIAL TODAY, NORMALLY NOT".
The terrace has good view but cobweb everywhere above us that mad the place looking so neglected also unwelcoming
We fought against ants every day. The washbasin is very very small, we could not wash face not cups/plates, we used shower for washing those every time.
This hotel has no sense of business and not interested to comfort customers.
The corner sign said “HOLLYWOOD HOTEL” but said just "MOTEL" on the wall of the hotel so we were not sure till we went into the reception.
We have more comments but our expectation was too high according to their website so we reluctantly accept their other poor condition.
Additionally, they do not answer the call normally. We at least called over ten times to get some information and directions, also no attendants at the reception even in the mid mornings.
We run a small business (hospitality) and a guesthouse for clients as well, so we know exactly how this kind of hotel should be.
One of my friends suggested me to send complaint to you and hotel association of Australia for the people like us who will use this hotel.
