Having read other's reviews I was not looking forward to the planned night at Silver Sands. I was however sooooo pleasantly surprised. The shaby rear entrance to our room was in keeping with expectation but upon stepping into the room, it was pretty much imaculate. All aspects clean, all soft furnishings fresh, beds comfortable, self catering more generous than many motels and of course the location unbeatable. And yes, the woman managing the place is a little gruff but fundamentally good hearted. Maybe there are other rooms of lesser standard but the two we had I could not fault.

Great location with beautiful view of the ocean. Very friendly staff and pleasant rooms. Great looking cafe attached with great selection of cakes etc. Very clean and felt new, suited our needs perfectly- had a great sleep! Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed 1 night in March 2010 whilst driving around Tasmania. Very old motel that is in need of redevelopment. Location is magic with ocean views and magic sunrises. However the rooms are 1960/70 era with cheap pine furniture and tired fittings. Television reception was poor reception service was only average. There are better places in Bichenoi for the traveller.

We arrived at the entrance and almost turned around and went elsewhere because of the appearance. Yes the place is from the 70's, yes it is in need of a makeover and yes, it is old and tired-looking but we decided to inspect an oceanview room and loved the outlook. Room was old but clean so we booked for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. We'd stay there again and recommend others to do the same but only in an oceanview.
