“Very spacious and well-equipped.”

The Acacia Apartments are somewhat pricy, but I think most accommodations on Kangaroo Island are pricy. Our apartment was a large two bedroom apartment with very comfortable furniture. The kitchen was large. Parking is right outside the door.
We really had no complaints, but if you want to be within walking distance of restaurants and have a view of the ocean, you might be happier at the Aurora Ozone Hotel in Kingscote (the newer section). These looked quite nice when we drove by.

“Extremely hospitable”

On our late arrival Diedre offered to drive us to the hotel so we could have dinner. She offered to drive us back but it was a nice night and not far so we walked home. The apartments are very comfortable with bread, milk, butter, cereal, etc supplied on arrival which took the hassle out of breakfast on the first morning. The apartments are very well situated for both walking to shops and restaurants and also for driving around the island.
We went on the penguin tour which is recommended as is seeing the pelicans being fed every day at 5pm. Also worth seeing is the sheep dairy where you can watch the sheep being milked and taste the delicious cheeses and yoghurts. You must go up to Seal Bay and do the seal tour it is fantastic. Also if you go on to Admirals Arch you will see the NZ fur seals.
We stayed for 4 nights but you could easily stay longer for a really great holiday.

“Great stay”

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at Acacia. Arriving late on a winter's evening after driving from Adelaide, we found that Deidre had provided in the kitchen provisions for the next day's breakfast, thus allowing our family to settle in comfortably. Our 2-bedroom apartment was well appointed, with a flat screen TV, a couple of Lay-Z-Boys (!) and comfortable sleeping arrangements for our three kids and ourselves. The apartments are obviously lovingly maintained, and provided a lovely temporary home away from home for our trip to Kangaroo Island. Would highly recommend Acacia for those looking for a comfy and cozy place for a family.

“Acacia Apartments is ideal for a holiday on Kangaroo Island”

I spent a week at Acacia Apartments in October 2009. Deidre is the owner and made me feel welcome. The apartment was well set up and very comfortable and the breakfast provisions were perfect.
Acacia Apartments has a great pool house with a large swimming pool and spa. Kingscote is an interesting country town and makes an ideal base for touring on Kangaroo Island.
The Rabbit Warren bakery is good for a pie and a nice cake for lunch.
At 5pm each day there is a short talk before pelicans are fed just a short walk from Acacia Apartments down at the Kingscote Wharf area.

“We love Acacia Apartments”

My wife and our daughter spent two nights at Acacia Apartments the first week of July, 2006. Deidre is the owner and made us feel welcome from the first moment. We loved how nice and clean the rooms were and really appreciated the kitchen. The feel was more of staying in a friends guest house. You will be treated like family. On our last day, Deidre picked us up at our room and managed to squeeze in a little mini tour on our way to the airport. We vacation/holiday frequently and have not had such warm, personal service anywhere.
The island itself is just remarkable. We took a tour with Sealink, Marc was our guide...he was great. Given that we only had a day and a half, the tour was a good way to hit the high lights. I would also recommend the Kangaroo Island Marine Tour with Andrew. We saw dolphins and fur seals, and would have gone snorkelling with the dolphins had it not been so cold. Go to the pelican feed in Kingscote at 5 p.m. and the Aquarium/Penguin tour at 7 p.m. These are both excellent. The deli/bookstore in Kingscote serves a great omelet.
Kangaroo Island is very relaxing and absolutely unique. We only wish it were closer to California, we'd be back every year.
