Myself and a colleague were booked for 2 Nights (3 Days) for business purposes. On arrival at the Hotel/Motel it seemed nicely renovated in the front section and we looked forward to a nice stay. On arrival the reception desk staff made mention to us "you do realise you have ONLY booked a standard room/ not deluxe?", this remark was made at least twice, as if trying to warn us about the room that awaited us. We advised her that the room is booked through work, so we have no idea what is booked, we would assume that only rooms decent enough to stay in would be booked through the booking agency.
At this point she did not explain what she meant by her comments, or what the difference was between what they call Deluxe or Standard.
The room was unavailable at this point and since we had to go to work, did not have any time to review the room quality.
On arrival back at the hotel about 5pm, we were given keys to the hotel rooms. It didn't take long to realise why we were pre-warned about these rooms. One room (Room 10) absolutely stank of cigarette smoke, urine. The place was dirty, the toilet uncleaned (with urine stains on the seat). The other room (11) was as dirty, with dead moths behind the bed, a smell of dust/musk, ripped chairs, an old airconditioner that you couldn't reach above the door and flimsy locks. These rooms were uninhabitial for humans. We went straight back to reception and complained about the sub standard conditions that we were placed under and explained the health concerns. We were offered a carpet deordoriser at this point. We explained that we wished to be relocated to another room and was told that all rooms were booked and there was nothing left.
We further complained to another reception staff (David), who said he could upgrade us to room 5 and 6 for the following night (our second night), we jumped at the chance. We had actually gone looking at the caravan park in case no other options were available, as we could not stay another night at this place. My colleague suffered a severe migraine headache the following day, caused I suspect by the cigarette smoke in her room. We later discovered by town folk that these old (or what they describe as standard rooms) are used for Emergency Housing. We also discovered by admission of the reception staff themselves, that rooms are currently getting upgraded and the rooms, 10,11,12 are the last three to be done. They should not be let to people as they are in such shocking condition, however because they were fully booked, they deceided to charge us and place us into these dumps, regardless of concerns for health or safety.
The newly renovated rooms is the quality that we would have expected on our original booking. Under no circumstances should this hotel be booking people into the OLD rooms (or what they describe as standard). They are not standard.....
The web site only shows pictures of the front part and the new rooms, they do not tell you what awaits out the back.
Only "Smell O Vision" could truly describe the state of the rooms.
On a good note: The food in the front part of the hotel was great.
I would not recommend this place unless you were absolutely sure that all rooms have been upgraded.
