“Good value in summer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Stayed over the break between xmas/new year for 2 nights to do some hiking from charlotte pass and found the place to be comfortable and good value. The rooms are dated but big, clean sheets, comfy bed and modern tv. For the money of less then 100/night in summer it was great.

The lady at reception was very informative regarding the hike we wanted to do and advised us to which way to walk the circuit to get the best out of it and how long it would take.

The location is great as its an easy flat walk to all the restaurants (the japanese was great value, putting city restaurants to shame). I don't agree about other reviews with traffic noise, Jindabyne is dead at this time of year and compared to any city its incredibly quiet especially at night.

The prices mid winter are scary and we would not be impressed if we went during this time but every place is just as overpriced at this time.

Would be happy to go back there during the summer.

“Little Gem in the Mountains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

The climb [coming from the south] into the Snowy Mountains was again a touch eerie with the dead trees of prior forest fires leaving large patches of ghostly silvery tree stands on the mountains. At Dead Horse Gap there where simply 1000’s of these ghost trees. Thredbo Village is the main Snowy’s ski town and very pleasant too. The information centre here gave great info as did many others and would recommend stopping at info centres en route for advice and free maps etc. Having lingered a little too long en route despite taking the cable car to within 5km of the summit of Australia’s highest mountain – Mt Kosciusko – it was too late to make the final 2km to the summit and back in time. The mountains were pristine and great views over the surrounding mountains made the climb worthwhile.

Off the mountain and a couple of round trips on the chair lift for my sons delight we stayed in quant Jindabyne overnight (Jindy Inn – really friendly and lovely views over the lake). An evening stroll around the lakeshore then to sample to the locally brewed Kozzi Beer – the best I found in Aus!!

The couple who own/run this hotel are really friendly and happy to share very good/useful info - for thoe travlling with kids would recomend and its very quiet too.

Room Tip: A room over looking the lake - as its so beutiful!

“Good value but traffic noise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

My husband and I have just spent 2 nights here and whilst I agree with the other reviews that the room is clean and comfortable and the view from the balcony looking over the lake is very nice, none of the reviews mentioned that the balcony also overlooks the main road. The traffic noise makes sitting on the balcony unpleasant. There is no aircon so the windows would need to be open in summer (we had 2 cold nights fortunately). i would probably not have booked here if I had known this.
However, the guest kitchen is very useful and the room is large enough to have a small table to eat at it if you want to make your own meals. There is no breakfast provided in summer.
The place is dated in a nice way and reminds me of a 70s guest house. If you are looking for a cheap, comfortable base in Jindabyne and are not bothered by traffic noise, then I recommend it. The owners are also very friendly and pleasant.

Room Tip: Superior rooms upstairs have view of lake.

“Clean and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I stayed here with my two adult daughters last week and it was perfectly satisfactory. It is "motel" style accommodation - nothing flash, but the beds were very comfortable (probably the best feature, in fact). We had a room on the top floor and had a nice view of the lake. There is a main road below but the traffic wasn't intense, so this was fine. The service was very good, the lady on reception was friendly and accommodating. Decent for motel type accommodation and locating a short walk from downtown Jindabyne.

“Enjoy the balcony view of Lake Jindabyne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Husband and I stayed for two nights here and it is exactly as the reviews indicated. Professional welcoming staff and beautifully clean, comfortable room. In summer the private balcony was great to sit and enjoy the lovely view of Lake Jindabyne. The Jindy is well positioned to walk to shops. If you are not worried about the decor being a little dated this is a fantastic spot to stay.
