My husband and I arrived in Cooma staying 5 nights during November. The personal service given to u s is to be highly reccommended. Chandra his wife & daughter went out of their way to please you. our rooms were clean & comfortable, The beds & pillows just like home, The meals yummy, breakfast would last you till dinner when a number of Chefs choices would appear on the whiteboard each night. I ne ver left the table hungry or disatisfied. The chef is to be highly reccommended for his culinary delights. We found it good value for money, and being pensioners every cent counts

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room south end cool in morning facing road warm sunshine coming in back courty...

“This is as it happened”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Booked for 2 nights as our daughter was performing in Cooma. Arrived a little after 7 on Friday night . Hoped to have tea there but were informed that the chef had unexpectedly decided to be absent until Tuesday. Went to room. Room makeup was 2 bedrooms of good size, clean ,comfortable beds, pretty well set up and overall not too bad. Shower and toilet a little reminiscent of those on long distance trains and there was some wood rot evident but still reasonably clean.
Next hitch came when we went to put in breakfast menu. Were informed that due to aforementioned chefs absence there was not only no in house buffet breakfast as advertised in hotel directory there was no breakfasts full stop -not even continental.

Okay so we made do as there was a toaster in the room and tea making facilities. Had a good sleep with very little highway noise The final straw occurred on Saturday the day of performance. We managed to lock ourselves out ( admittedly a silly thing to do) with unfortunately our performers only score locked in the room. Went to reception to get a spare key at about 6.30 pm and despite there being a sign saying vacanies and please ring night bell nothing happened when said bell was rung. Nothing continued to happen for the next 20 minutes . Gave up and went to performance where luckily more music was able to be copied. Continued to ring the motels phone number( which went to answering machine repeatedly) and go back to Motel for next 2 and a half hours at intervals to find not a soul at a closed reception. At this point we were trying to work out possible alternate plans given all our clothes were locked in our room and we had no idea if and when reception would be manned or what had happened to reception staff.

Went back at around nine to find reception open. Obtained a key and something of an apology as apparently night phone should have been tranferred to somewhere it could have been answered and the person on reception was only relieving.

Futher apology given when we left but it was a fairly harrowing experience for people who have had more than their fair share of travel disasters over the years.

This is very embarrasing. We had just taken a week off after 18 months and had placed a relief manager in place. As he explained, the portable phone worked outside the motel building but for some reason, would not work in his room. So we sincerely apologise for any convenience we caused you. Our relief manager explains that a room service continental brakfast was available. Nevertheless we apologise again for the inconvenience. We will be in touch directly to offer you recompense.

“Stuffy rooms with poor heating”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

I stay in many motels for business and overall this one does not rate too badly for Cooma. Like most accommodation in Cooma, this one does not have electric blankets. Arriving late on a winter's night, I found the reception from staff to be warm and eager to please. They told me up front that the air conditioner takes a while to come on and work. Over hours the air conditioner hardly heated the room at all and seemed to be blowing Luke warm air at best. Coupled with a cold bed with no electric blanket which smelled rather stuffy and stale - I don't think that the room had been aired for a while - this was not the experience I had been looking for. As the owners were Indian, I ordered an Indian dish from the menu, however was severely disappointed as this was obviously a poor packet variety heated up in the microwave, but at the cost of a restaurant dish. This is a shame, as the owners look as though they want to please their guests but they really do need to lift their game to deliver a higher quality room and meal. The cooked breakfast, which was included in the price was below average, but again the service was lovely. I would not personally pay to stay here, but then I haven't really found much better in Cooma.

Thank you for taking time to advise of your concerns. We thank you for your kind comments. We aim to please but do need to know the issue at the time so that we can resolve it. Rooms have central heating and reverse cycle. Where people still feel cold we are happy to provide additional blankets and portable heating to supplement those already in the room.
Food like wine, is to individual taste. What may be fantastic for one may be ordinary for another. We assure you that all food is freshly prepared on site by a very experieced chef.
We will welcome the opportunity for you to try our full range of cuisine at your next visit.

“No. 1 Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

What a fantastic place to stay for our holidays. The hospitality extended by Chandra and his wife went far beyond our expectations. Nothing was too much trouble and they did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable and effortless.
The room standard is exceptionally high and the surrounding area is beautiful. My husband and I went to the snowy mountains for some much needed R&R and we looked at different hotels and motels. I am so pleased we chose this accommodation for our trip. From my first email exchange with Chandra, I knew we'd be right at home and we were. The owner’s daughter gave us wonderful tips on restaurants and places to go and see. Our rooms were immaculate and the linens, towels, and everything was top notch. The bed and pillows were wonderful! And the custom made breakfasts every morning were delicious (I would recommend the Indian omellete). The restaurant had the best Goat curry I have ever tasted made the Chandra’s wife Saras. We loved all the little things they did to make our time special. We can't say enough about the food, the location, the rooms, and all the "extras" that you don't expect. We will be back and refer any and all of our family

“The poorest experience of my life (60 years)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

Chandra was very pleasant and welcomed us nicely enough. We had booked online with an option for eggs and bacon on toast for an extra $1.00 per person (which we did not utilise). As we had been delayed driving from Melbourne, we did ring and let them know our approx arrival time. Management was quite happy with that. We asked about dinner but "the wife goes on strike on Sundays as it is the only day she gets a break from cooking". We were offered alternatives in town and we went to the RSL which was nice and quite reasonable. The room!!!!!!! Where do I begin? First - a comfortable bed with reasonable linen. Air conditioner worked well. TV was good. Shower and toilet are on top of each other, BUT shower was clean and water was nice and hot. (Cheap toilet seat!!) Towels are clean BUT housekeeping did not give me a clean towel, just hung up the very wet towel (which I had to dry myself when I returned to the hotel at 4.00p.m. same afternoon). Room is very crowded with queen size bed and Double bed and double seater lounge, one round table sitting in spare space with 2 chairs. (Not at all homelike - I felt that I did not want to be in the room). Also, bedside tables are overly large and VERY heavy to move so as to untuck bedclothes and get into bed. Bed side lamps are huge, cumbersome and dangerous. 1 power point ( above the handbasin) is loose and very old fashioned and has tape on it. I have read the other reviews and agree wholeheartedly with one reviewer that it is not a pretty sight Nor is it very safe to have electrical cords hanging all over the place. I have always understood that if you are a franchise - that the "franchising company" was there to oversee the safety and all other standards and that they are followed to the letter of the law.

Room Tip: Read the reviews and then make an informed decision.

Dear Geof, Thank you for taking time to write a review. Feedback from customers allows us to improve our facilities within reason. Our breakfast special is very popular. Our office is open till 10.00PM as stated on our website and we are happy to make arrangements for late arrivals. Our Restaurant is open 6 days (except Sundays) as stated on our website and we do offer alternative venues. As a husband and wife team working 7 days can be tiring- thank you for your understanding. We try to keep our basic facilities in good order and clean. The toilet seat is plastic, wooden seats are not available or nor hygenic. With towels, there are signs in the room that urge customers to be be enviromrntally aware and re-use towels however some customers prefer to use new towels daily to remove clean water from their body for whatever reason, there is the option of leaving the towel on the floor. Our housekeepers will then replace them. There wre 3 sleeping positions in the room and three towels in the bathroom. Irrespective, customers need only to ask and we would have provided another towel at no charge. I am surprised you did not exercise this option. The furniture is of an older period which many people of older generation admire. The bedside lamps are large and heavy which fits in with the decore. We have not had a single accident with them as nobody moves them. We take customer safety seriously. The mentioned powerpoint was check to to be firm and safe, the "tape"was a label. The loose cable are power and Antenae cable to the TV.
We would have welcomed the opportunity to allay your concerns during your stay. Nevertheless we thank you for your comments.
