Rooms feel too hot, my partener and I stayed a few times over 2011 and have tried the cooling, but even in winter still too hot, slept with sheet only. Breakfast and dinners very nice and service is excellent. The lady who serves and recieves guests for breakfast is excellent, she remembered us from our last stay, thats what we like....feels like home.

I stayed here for one night on business and overall I like the hotel. The hotel itself is quite new and modern with a hip/funky feel to it. The room was neat although there was a hair stuck to the tile in the bathroom that was a bit off putting. Also there were pulled carpet threads where the sliding door between the bedroom and bathroom caught on the carpet which wouldn’t take too much effort to trim the threads or plane the bottom of the door. I struggled getting the air conditioning working to cool the room as there was little difference between the symbols for heat and cold [sun and snowflake] on the controller. This probably had to do more with the fact that they were small and difficult to see without my glasses. The bed was most comfortable together with heavy curtains that closed completely to ensure a good night’s sleep was had.
As a group we ate dinner at the restaurant downstairs – the Coldwater Creek Tavern which had a good feel to it with an indoor/outdoor openness. I was disappointed when I pointed out to the waitstaff after ordering a porterhouse medium rare that mine and 3 others on the table had been cooked medium to well done and all I got was “I’ll let the chef know”. The response was less than satisfactory after paying $34 for each steak. The remainder of the meal was fine with some good entrees, well presented and some old fashioned desserts – like sago pudding which I had.
The one aspect of my stay that really annoyed me more than anything else was the fact the hotel DOES NOT have a gym. If you download their brochure from the Chifley Doveton website it states that they have a “fully equipped gym”. After enquiring at reception about the gym I was told that guests could visit the Freeway Sports Centre offsite and pay $8.00 to access the gym as a guest. This is false advertising and misleading and should be taken off their marketing material.
Overall, the hotel is okay and apart from the hair found on the tiles, is kept clean to a good standard. It offers value for money accommodation but if you like your steak cooked the way you like I would steer clear of the Coldwater Creek Tavern.

Downstairs pub is a bonus.

Arived at Chifley tavern only to find it was booked out for a function last night but Avril was great allowing us to stay until the function started she is one of the best managers I have seen all my mates thought she was fantastic we will be spreading the news on how good this venue and beer is we will be back
