“Great little spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

Very comfortable, light and bright rooms and I thought the beds were super comfy. We had 3 in a 2 bedroom and 2 in the one bedroom next door. Balcony divider could be taken down which made for a great central area for all of us to socialise. Kitchenette was totally adequate for holiday quick meals. The only small suggestions I might make is a sharp knife and cutting board for the kitchenette and different toilet paper holders in the bathroom. Couches in living area a bit hard on the butt to sit for long but then we weren't there to watch TV! That's being picky! Can't really comment on the value as we got ripped off by BeachBreak Holidays/Ezyflights. In future we would book direct as then it would be excellent value for money. Everything clean as can be. What really made it for us was the attitude, helpfulness and warmth of the management and staff. Would definitely stay there again.

“Was nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Stayed here for a week for our wedding anniversary in May and thought it was a nice place, staff were really nice and ammenities were great, only thing was the rooms werent as big as i expected (we stayed in a one bedroom spa room) but were very clean it had a basic kitchenette. The bedroom was very small and the aircon was like a ducted aircon so the control panel for the bedroom aircon was in the loungeroom and the airflow from the one in the bedroom coulnt be moved and it pointed right at you face which ended up making me sick with the flu .The lounges were uncomftable, very hard to sit on and the cushions would slide of the lounge chair. The bathroom was tiny but spabath was great . Balcony was great, loved sitting in the sun watching the water only downpart was across the road was a new development and it was all dirt so that wasnt pleasent to look at. We did have a good stay though

“Was OK, but won't be back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

Service:
Pleasent but not always available

Room:
FRIDGE was off, therefore defrostered- water everywhere but no mop to clean it up (small broom only)
DVD player didn't work
TV: speakers distorted
Bed: hard and not comfortable- both husband & wife thought the same
Light in range hood not working
One light in kitchen not working
last night stay: power when out in room- not sure if was only my room

Gym was great
all amenities were clean
Pool spa was working but heating was broken
smoke alarm very sensitive- when off 3 time
Secure parking door wasn't working (always was open)

This is my second time stay at Blue Horizon and could not (other than the bed) fault the first stay, location is great, short walk to the main street of Airlie, service is pleasant, free local newpaper each day however, for a reasonably new location things seem to be needing a little attention.

Hi Shazals, Firstly thank you for taking the time post a review on Blue Horizon Resort. It is always dissapointing for us to find that a guest has not enjoyed their stay at Blue Horizon Resort. You have raised a number of issues here, we will try to satisfactorily address all of them.
We work very hard to try and make every guests stay as enjoyable as possible and recieve reviews reflecting this. So thank you for your score of 5 out 5 for cleanliness, this is an area we place a high priority on and your score is evidence of the terrific job our housekeepers do. We thinks this reflects our overall committment to our guests.

It is unfortunate that you encountered a number of maintenance issues during your stay. We do run a daily maintenance book. Any items reported directly by guests or from housekeeping are lodged into the maintenance book. Where possible we try to attend to these items on the same day. We were unable to find a record of a faulty DVD/Set-Top Box during the period of your stay? We carry spares of these as well as TV's, full range of light globes etc. Sometimes we are not made aware of some problems, but we would like to assure you, that we would have been more than happy to pop up to your room and attend to some of the issues raised.

With regards to the fridge, we can only apologise for this. we do a pre arrival for all guest stays and this should have been noticed! No excuses on our part.

We did not have a report of any general power outage to the building, perhaps the safety switch in your apartment tripped? These will from time to time if overloaded, power fluctuations etc.

Beds are always a contenious issue. We feel it is very subjective and whats a great bed for one person is a brick for another! We have had reviews both ways on beds. Our beds are 5 star commercial quality. In our visitors book at reception one guest left this comment:- "The most wonderful beds I have slept on in a hotel - a great place to stay thank you." Just goes to show really.

The smoke alarms are sensitive as per our signage in the unit, cooking, smoking even out on the balcony with doors open can trigger the alarms?

With regards the Spa heater and the door to the undercover carpark. All buildings encounter equipment breakdowns, these are mostly unforseeable. The heater elements for the spa were ordered the day they failed, however there were no replacements available in Aust at the time, so we just have to wait. The same with the carpark door controller, we have not been able to get anyone to come and rectify this problem. Please don't think that we don't constantly follow up on these things. it can be very frustrating.

Service Pleasant but not always available? Bit confused on this one, we are self contained apartment property run by a management couple and receptionist on weekdays. We obviously cannot sit in reception 24/7 7 days a week. Like all other similar strat title properties we have reception hours, which we post on all our online sites, our web page, clearly displayed at reception as well as on the reception entry doors. Outside reception hours we have facilities in place to be contactable within reason 24 hrs a day. In case of an urgent maintenanve issue, problem with door entry, noise problem etc. Your in house phone, the phone at reception as well as the call phone outside reception are always connected either directly to us or to our night service. We can only apologise if you found this level of service fell short of your expectations.

It is a shame that you have decided not to return to Blue Horizon Resort, please be assured that we would extend a warm welcome to you, and make every possible effort to ensure you had a wonderful stay.

Steve & Sandra Managers, Mel and the team at Blue Horizon resort.

Room was OK, bathroom a bit small for four people. Couches not very comfortable. Not near centre of town, but only a short walk away and all tours organise pick up and drop off, so you can do without a car unless you want to explore the nearby inland national parks.

“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

We recently stayed at Blue Horizons for 3 nights and had a great stay. The Reception staff were extremely friendly, the room was very modern and clean and we had a great water view from our 4th floor apartment. We even ventured for a swim in the pool, very clean but pretty cold, but then again it is the middle of winter! Only a comfortable 10 minute walk to Airlie Beach shops, which we did a couple of times each day. We have already discussed returning to Blue Horizons next year for another winter break. Would highly recommend Blue Horizons.

Room Tip: Best views from all floors, but the higher the better
