“Not up to scratch”

Only stayed for one night as a mini getaway. We live locally.
Pictures do match match the current state of disrepair. Would be ok if rated lower, but not worth the $$$ they are asking. faulty light globes, rotted wood on the stairs, torn material on the swinging chair and the list goes on.
Really friendly staff and great location.
Much better options around.

We love having local's come and stay with us, thank you. I truly appreciate your valued feedback and I am sorry for the oversight with the light globe and tear in the cushion cover, our hanging couples swings are a beautiful feature of our Brigadier rooms. Thank you for your feedback regarding our team and agree our beachfront location in the heart of the village makes for a perfect romantic getaway. On behalf of the team we do hope to welcome you back to the Resort.

Yours sincerely

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We booked our stay for six nights. On arrival at the ReefHouse we were very disappointed. Pictures and description was nothing like the actual resort. The resort is tired and in serious need of either knockdown or renovation. Rooms were basic to say the least. The tea coffee facilities were on the balcony and the eating utensils were located in the same cupboard as the bin!!!!!

We only stayed 1 night and moved to another resort. I think the true rating of this resort is around 3 star and im sure that there would be no complaints if rated correctly. I felt that the resort is overpriced for the standard and I would not recommend it as a 4-5star resort. On the upside the staff were very friendly and understanding of our complaints. Im sure it is a regular occurance with the prices which are advertised and the true standard of the hotel.

Room Tip: Do not choose Reefhouse if you are looking for a 4-5star hotel you will be disappointed

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay, which I read with great disappointment. I sincerely apologise that we did not meet your expectations. Our Verandah and Verandah Spa rooms are extremely popular particularly as they feature a large outdoor balcony/verandah, enabling our guests to enjoy the very best of the Tropical North Queensland lifestyle. We do however have alternate ocean, lagoon pool or tropical garden view rooms and suites which feature internal mini bar, tea and coffee making facilties. Myself and the team would love to have assisted with a room relocation if given the opportunity.

Once again my sincere apologies and I do hope if you visit Palm Cove in the future please allow us to extend our very best hospitality and opportunity to change your current impression of the resort. I would be delighted to personally organise your next reservation.

Yours sincerely
Kellie

“Perfect for a couples break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in January 2012 and had a great stay. Perfect location right in the middle of the Palm Cove strip, really big rooms (only downside is shower/bath but size more than compensates) friendly staff and the resort is the perfect size. Big enough to have all the facilities you'd expect, and small enough that you don't have to fight for a pool chair. Nice restaurant with perfect views of the ocean - we saw the most amazing sunsets. This is the perfect place for a couples getaway.

“Amazing Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed for 4 days and loved the resort. My husband would like to stay in the same town, resort and room at exactly the same time this year. Wow -he never likes going away. He must have loved it!

It was everything we had expected from a 4 star resort. We were also very impressed with the local area and location of the resort.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor Brigadier room and it was lovely!

“Lots to like in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

When trying to decide on a hotel in Palm Cove, I had a few concerns with Reef House based on previous reviews, but we got a great special deal - $135/nt with breakfast and $50 spa credit - so I thought we'd give it a try. For us, it was a fantastic value. We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Our room (Veranda room) was spacious and nicely appointed. We had a large veranda with table, lounge chairs, a bar, fridge, etc that had a beautiful view of the resort and pool area. We also had a bathroom and separate "changing room" each with a sink and vanity which allowed us to spread out. We also liked the two pools (never found the 3rd one that was advertised), the honor bar (not cheap, but a cool feature for a hotel of this size), the unlimited towels, the restaurant (which served breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the staff were great too. We got a couples massage in the spa, and although the facilities were nothing fancy, the massages themselves were VERY good. It seemed there were only two employees working in the spa, who also did the treatments, so it was hard to actually make an appointment. For such a "well renowned" spa, the small size and simple facilities surprised me, but again, the treatments were really good. The continental breakfast was plentiful and what we would have expected. We ate dinner at the restaurant once and luckily were able to take advantage on a 25% off early bird special. The prices were pretty high and probably not worth what we got if it weren't for the discount. Our first waitress must have been new because she seemed really inexperienced and not knowledgeable - this surprised me, as I thought this was one of the top restaurants in Palm Cove and expected more. Our second waitress was great - personable and knowledgeable - and saved the experience for us. The location of the resort was perfect, right in the center of the esplanade and all of the shops and restaurants and right across from the beach. We chose to stay at the pool though as there were signs on the beach about crocs being in the waters. A couple of small things that bugged us a little: you had to pay to use the in-room safe and you had to put a deposit (they put it on your room until you returned it) to use the resort's umbrellas. I also agree with some of the other comments about upkeep - some things needed to be painted and the pool ladder was rusty/crickety. Overall we were happy with our stay and would recommend the Reef House.
