“Amazing Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed for 4 days and loved the resort. My husband would like to stay in the same town, resort and room at exactly the same time this year. Wow -he never likes going away. He must have loved it!

It was everything we had expected from a 4 star resort. We were also very impressed with the local area and location of the resort.

Susanna E

Room Tip: We had a ground floor Brigadier room and it was lovely!

“Lots to like in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

When trying to decide on a hotel in Palm Cove, I had a few concerns with Reef House based on previous reviews, but we got a great special deal - $135/nt with breakfast and $50 spa credit - so I thought we'd give it a try. For us, it was a fantastic value. We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Our room (Veranda room) was spacious and nicely appointed. We had a large veranda with table, lounge chairs, a bar, fridge, etc that had a beautiful view of the resort and pool area. We also had a bathroom and separate "changing room" each with a sink and vanity which allowed us to spread out. We also liked the two pools (never found the 3rd one that was advertised), the honor bar (not cheap, but a cool feature for a hotel of this size), the unlimited towels, the restaurant (which served breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the staff were great too. We got a couples massage in the spa, and although the facilities were nothing fancy, the massages themselves were VERY good. It seemed there were only two employees working in the spa, who also did the treatments, so it was hard to actually make an appointment. For such a "well renowned" spa, the small size and simple facilities surprised me, but again, the treatments were really good. The continental breakfast was plentiful and what we would have expected. We ate dinner at the restaurant once and luckily were able to take advantage on a 25% off early bird special. The prices were pretty high and probably not worth what we got if it weren't for the discount. Our first waitress must have been new because she seemed really inexperienced and not knowledgeable - this surprised me, as I thought this was one of the top restaurants in Palm Cove and expected more. Our second waitress was great - personable and knowledgeable - and saved the experience for us. The location of the resort was perfect, right in the center of the esplanade and all of the shops and restaurants and right across from the beach. We chose to stay at the pool though as there were signs on the beach about crocs being in the waters. A couple of small things that bugged us a little: you had to pay to use the in-room safe and you had to put a deposit (they put it on your room until you returned it) to use the resort's umbrellas. I also agree with some of the other comments about upkeep - some things needed to be painted and the pool ladder was rusty/crickety. Overall we were happy with our stay and would recommend the Reef House.

“Enjoyable weeks stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We had a good stay in this hotel and were lucky with great weather too. Our family suite was very spacious and the layout of the hotel worked well for us. A bit noisy on a couple if mornings though as some construction works were being carried out in the area behind the hotel and right behind our room but that wasnt their fault.
Located perfectly by the beach with lots of amenities close by including restaurants, shops, public transport etc.. Whilst there we had good food, good service and a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The only downside was the price but this was our experience all over Australia with everything being very expensive.

“Relaxing stay at the Reef House Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We spent the last weekend of October at the Reef House as a wedding anniversary treat. Had a wonderful 3 night stay. The room was large, clean and serviced daily - and to have a seperate dressing room was a great addition. Also loved making my cup of tea out on the balcony in the mornings - yes, we had a few ants, but this is FNQ. Loved the style of the rooms - very fresh, with shutters and tiled floors. Spent two days lazing by the freshwater pool - so peaceful, and great to have the honesty bar available all day for refreshments. My only problem was the pool access - being pregnant and walking precariously around pillars and plants wasn't too fun! Breakfast was great - we had the buffet inclusive in our stay and this was always well stocked with fruits and breads. We also had an evening meal on the friday night but weren't too impressed - just very average standard of food. Although staff were very helpful - no probs with the service. All in all, a great little hotel. We'll definitely be back and will recommend this place to others. Don't think I would pay the full room prices, but there are plenty of deals out there - we paid $450 for 3 nights including breakfast, in a verandah room and this was a perfectly acceptable price for what we got.

Room Tip: Go for the long block that runs along the back of the resort - these rooms overook the freshwater po...

“Beautiful Resort”

Far North Queensland is a magnificent part of Australia. Palm Cove is a hidden sea side town. Accommadation all along the water front. None better than Reef House Resort. Such a tropical setting all through out the Resort. There are 2 pools & 2 spas to choose from. Found fresh water pool & Spa was our favourite. Continental Breakfast was great. Plenty of variety to choose from. Rooms are very well equiped & so light & airy. Beds a lovely touch with over head net. Staff so helpful. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Can't wait to go back there, but will stay longer next time. One night is not enough to enjoy this beautiful place.
