“Beachside resort and worth the little bit extra cost”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

After having stayed a few days at the Novotel in Palm Cove this place was a haven!
The location is at one end of the Palm Cove main street, it is the only place that you can stay that is right on the beach as well.
We had a one bedroom suite and it had a full kitchen - the room was split over two levels with kitchen, lounge and dinning upstairs and the 2 bathrooms (not sure why you would need this!) and bedroom downstairs. The decor is clean.
The staff were friendly, the 3 pools are great, and what they do (which the Novotel clearly doesn't) is maintenance.
I appreciated the resort and would recommend it.

“Best on the Beach”

We totally enjoyed staying at this most beautiful hotel. It is one of the few situated directly on the beach . The suites are so spacious and beautifully decorated . Kitchens are well equipped and we loved having a washer and dryer
The gorgeous landscaping just adds to the island feel of the resort. Large inviting pool in the center of the resort .
The charming town of Palm Cove is at your door step and we walked to dinner each night.
The staff here is top notch!! All very friendly and helpful.

Many thanks to Geoff ,the manager, for his warm hospitality.

“Still the best in Palm Cove”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

I've stayed in Palm Cove a number of times over the past 20 years and I'm still always drawn to Angsana.

I had the pleasure recently of staying in a beachfront unit overlooking the wedding chapel. The view out through the palm trees to the ocean is world class (I think it's one of the very few resorts actually on the beach in FNQ?).

I can't comment really comment on the pools, but the ability to walk straight out onto the beach without crossing the road or walking through shops is a winner. And if you don't want to swim (as in my case) you can just sit out on the lounges or grass looking at the ocean. All in all, very pleasant.

We ate at the restuarant and had a really nice meal, although like the rest of Palm Cove it shuts early (beware if you're from down south and used to late dining).

The apartment was quite large and we were certainly very comfortable, although we spent most of our time sitting on the balconey relaxing.

Our unit had new flat screen TVs and the decor was fine, maybe not the absolute latest but no real complaints. Kitchen was modern but we ate out mostly.

Overall we had a fabulous time and for us, the location of Angsana makes it the pick of the crop in Palm Cove.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for a beachfront apartment - it's absolutely worth it. Uppoer floors are l...

“Sense satisfying”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

This is a 'total beach front' hotel, in beautiful, Palm Cove, Tropical North Queensland, Australia. It is an elegant 5 star hotel, with an outstanding Spa. The rooms are larg and graciously decorated, very soothing and relaxing while providing for one's every wish. The Reception is always gracious and sets a great mood from the start. Always enjoy the 'Welcome Drink.'

The Spa is Thai in presentation, and the lovely ladies that work there are mostly Thai trained and from Thailand. The range of offerings is extensive and we have never been less than less than amazed with our time spent there and the results.

We had a total ocean view suite, with unrestricted views. One flight of stairs to our door which opened onto a very large, very well equipped kitchen and sunken living room. There was a lit, oil burner burning essential oil to welcome us; the scent is changed daily. Our bedroom and two bathrooms were up another flight of stairs, but offered peace and quiet that is rare in a hotel. If we left the front sliding door onto the private balcony open, we could hear the muted sound of the surf from our bed.

This is a very sensory-satisfying resort and spa; silence when you want it, and the soothing, restoring, unrestricted ocean when you need it.

Our only suggestion for improvement would be that the outdoor 'spa' pool be heated to at least 28-30 C.

Room Tip: Request totally beachfront rooms but expect stairs; no lifts at this resort.

“Great Spot to relax and enjoy in Australia's winter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

We booked the four-bedroom suite on the first floor of the beachfront building- there were four adults and four children-cost was $A705 a day for 7 days ( October 2-9,2011 ),The apartment is large and spacious, only one flight of stairs to the first floor- the front kitchen and eating area flows through to a relaxing lounge/tv area has two large balconies which has a great view of the beach and palm tress and the sparking seas. Angsana has many single bedroom and two and three bedroom apartments as well. Palm Cove is about 25 minutes drive from Cairns up on the coastal highway towards Port Douglas but it is certainly a five star resort township with Sea Temple, Peppers by the Sea and many other up market resorts offering high quality accomodation. Angsana is an older style cyclone proof brilliantly white painted 3 storey complex with 3 pools in the beautiful gardens. Great especially for young families. It is the only place in Pam Cover with the front of the resort offering beach front.
A fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare meals or bring in take-aways but Pam Cove has many Sydney/Melbourne priced restaurants and cafes and coffee houses.
Currently the tourist trade is lagging and resorts here are offering discounts.ANGSANA was recently renovated and all rooms are air conditioned and well equipped. If you want to be by the beach. this is tjhe place to be but you must request a frontal apartment!j

Room Tip: ask for a beach front apartment- first or second or third floor best but there is no lift-just stair...
