Las Terrenas is a run down town compared to what were used too here in England, however, in all fairness we shoudl be accepting the town as it is instead of ruining it from its own ways of life. The town itself has no clubbing facilities or decent bars, however this resort meant we had alot of different ways to keep purselves occupied, the beach next to the hotel was stunning, again alot of traffic and dogs about, but use your knowledge, watch the traffic and stay away fromt he dogs, they wont hurt you anyway. The hotel has fantastic All Inclusive facilities, although the food can get repeatitive and the drinks are not what you would expect...no Malibu on the island to be found. Watch excursions, there not all there made our to be, I travelled with first choice who were absolutly appauling and the most unrofessional travel agents going.
As for the hotel rooms, there were fantastic, the cleaners were great, fresh linen everyday, great balacony and we had a 2 bedroom apartment to ourselves, the culture of the island is amazing, completely different from here and should be accepted as such. The rooms were airconditioned and drinkable water avaliable 24/7 We steered clear of the Casino attached adn wouldnt recommend it as there are a few "women selling themselves" around too, so not a fantastic place for kids.
I would definatly return to this place again, overall 5* where first choice arent involved.
