Fantastic French food for a special occassion but prices really steep (i.e., count on $100 per person with wine). Well worth it for a birthday dinner while staying nearby.

Fantastic French food for a special occassion but prices really steep (i.e., count on $100 per person with wine). Well worth it for a birthday dinner while staying nearby.
We stayed there for my father in laws 70th birthday and made and excellent choice.
We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet well run small hotel, if the whole experience might be a bit French at times (when we arrived there was a note to call the owner for check-in :O)
As other reviewers pointed out, the location is a bit off track, but well worth the trip giving the beach at Playa Bonita and its surroundings once you are there (the road was getting paved when we arrived btw).
While the restaurant was closed in the evening (we stayed in low season) there are plenty of other options nearby.
The only criticism I may have is that while good value for money, the extra charge for A/C rooms doesn't make a lot of sense to me, you either have it throughout and clients can use it or not.
llWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet well run small hotel. "This is a relaxed and quiet place for uncomplicated people." - sums it up really. For us been able to open our bedroom windows and hear the sound of the sea is real luxury.
" It is not an easy drive to get there" - so what.the hotel is not reponsible for the road system.
" There was no phone, no radio, no TV, no hair dryer" - LOL if you want this better off staying at home.
My only negatives would be The Granda room still had no bathroom curtain - important as the room is quite public.
For a such a tastefully designed hotel why do you place the cheapest possible Haitian/Dominican art on the walls - better off with nothing.
I spent a week in January in hotel Atlantis and had a great time!
I recommend the small plane trip to get there: its both fun and fast! Dont be scared by the last kilometer of bad road to reach Playa bonita; at least it makes it a bit more "secret" and much more quiet thant any of Las Terrannas beaches. Moto conchos or cabs will take you easily almost anywhere for a few hundred pesos. Here, you will only hear the sound of waves!
The hotel team helped us organizing everything very smoothly, kindly and professionally. The hotel also serves as local French consulate (apart from the mixed delicious food) which can happen to be useful in case of problems for French citizens. Our room (Granada) was large, well decorated, very clean, fan was enough at that time of the year. Bathroom very clean and with nice complementary set of soaps etc...
This is not a luyxury hotel, this is not a "all inclusive" hotel. If you re looking for that, go to Punta Cana.
This is a smal charm hotel, there are no TV, its on the sea, 3 minutes away from Playa Rincon, one of the most beautiful ever. Breakfast and home baked bread are excellent. The rest of the restaurant menu is delicious, Dominican and French fusion. Its the perfect retreat for those looking to see unspoilt Samana peninsula.
The nice "plus" : wi-fi on the beach !
The atlantis hotel is excellent located by playa bonita beach. They have a great seating area with long chairs by the beach at no extra cost. The restaurant there serves really good international and local food. However, the prices are a bit higher than in other hotels in the area eventhough they offer the same facilities and services.
