We used this motel as a base for visiting Queenstown, for which it is quite convenient. We had a first floor, one bedroomed unit which was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The parking is a short distance from the units but this wasn't a problem for us. We stayed for two nights and found it very pleasant and relaxing.

We travelled for 2 weeks through the south island and this was the only accomodation we were disapointed with. Was $210 a night for three bedrooms which was most expensive place we stayed. Motel was small and old. WHen we asked the lady in reception what to do in arrowtown, she suggested we go to Queenstown instead. Very long walk to town. Arrowtown is beautiful though

NZ is full of fine small motels and motor lodges with new well kept rooms. The Golden View is not one of them. When you walk in you'll find that the sidewalks are old, cracked, and falling apart. The gardens have seen much better days. The room I was in was generously sized, but very worn. The walls of the bathroom had holes and cracks and weren't exceptionally clean. The bed was OK, but the linens were obviously old. The Wi-Fi was $6/hour and exceptionally slow - it appeared to be throttled to 30kbs. I came away from my stay at the Golden View feeling like the owners were charging as much as the market would bear, but not investing anything back into their property.

If you want to save money and stay in the area, you'll probably get a better deal in nearby Queenstown. If you want to stay in Arrowtown, spend a few more dollars and stay someplace nicer.
